Topic: Kid safe shows?

My 10yr old daughter is a big fan of Joe's by virtue of her dad listening to Joe nonstop. smile   We have the opportunity to see Joe in Biloxi next month and she wants to go.    I saw Joe's awesome show in Tokyo last month and it seemed kid safe.   Of course  the majority of the folk in the room were Japanese so there may have been a diminished amount of on-stage banter.

My question for you seasoned Joe show goers: Is the show kid safe and would you hesitate to take your 10 yr old daughter?

Re: Kid safe shows?

Take her with no worries and have a blast. And then after the show hang out at the bus so you both can meet him. It'll be a great night!

My daughter is a little older(17) but saw some kids about your daughters age. No worry Joe crowds and Joe himself are all pretty classy!

Dont need a helmet to get me through life-walk across the water blame it on foolish pride.

Re: Kid safe shows?

go for it, - my daughter was 9 when we first saw Joe and was mesmerised despite the appalling weather (outside festival), - as was my son then age 10 . - Joe is a gentleman so no danger of bad language or behaviour up on stage and you always meet a nice class of person in the crowd wink - Just take some ear plugs, whilst Joe's sound is very much quality over volume it is still loud and little ears are easily damaged.

My YouTube channel with plenty of my Joe's videos dating from 2009 inc his first Hammersmith Odeon ones:

Take your daughter in good conscience as all above have stated fact. It will be a memory of a lifetime.

Re: Kid safe shows?

I would take any child over 5 who isn't a spoiled brat in need of a spanking or on extended time out.  I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND EAR PROTECTION (even for teens) to be readily available as needed or mandated, and possibly not just foam compressible inserts.  Otherwise, and especially given the child interest in THE MUSIC at least as much as hanging with Pop, no question give the green light.  An honest assesment and description of what to expect is responsible parenting.

On stage banter?  Joe is not one to talk up a storm and he is not known for excessive cuss words in performance situations and he is conscience of youngsters in attendance as it is pretty much a given in most locations.  Any chance you'd denounce Joe forever if he let one slip, preemptive censorship is a must on your part, and make it a no go...

Re: Kid safe shows?

Very kid safe!  Took my 13 year old daughter to the Pittsburgh show in May...no worries except you might want to have ear plugs/protection on hand.

Re: Kid safe shows?

Yes in most part they are. It really depends upon the people in attendance. Most are conscious if children are present but alcohol changes even the most well behaved. Use your best judgement.

Stay Safe Y'all!!

Re: Kid safe shows?

Let's not forget the "bird" making a brief appearance, in response to the "show off" comment from the crowd.  Most of you will know whereof I speak....

But I agree, pretty kid safe.  Certainly not like a hip hop or metal show, in any sense.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

Re: Kid safe shows?

The only thing I can add to the above is that there was an F bomb or two briefly dropped by Joe during his thank you for coming out to Kansas City / St. Louis, and the little story he tells about the last time he played that area. Other than that, no problems!

Re: Kid safe shows?

I wouldn't hesitate to take any kid that is interested in the music. I heard more F bombs last week at Disney on Ice (from parents) than I've heard at some of the shows I've been to lately.

Took my son Vince when he was 4!  Joe was awesome and Vince loved it!  No problems taking kids!
