Topic: Merrilleville indiana show

Well I havent been on the forum for a bit but here is my update. The show in Indiana will be my 4th show two years . Chicago (sold out) oct 2011 , The Paalce ( Louisville ) Nov.2011 , Springfield Il ( Joe's Birthday ) on May 8th 2012  and on Nov.6th Star Plaza in Indiana will be the fourth .  I had the best time at Joes Birthday show as I got to meet Joe and he signed my JB Gold Top for me . We gave Joe a bottle of wine at the meet and greet and he came out for the encore drinking a glass of the wine we gave him. Here is the best part , at the end of the show he threw his sunglasses out to the crowd and my girlfriend got them . It was her first bonamassa show and she not only got his sunglasses but also got to meet Joe. She gave me the sunglasses by the way .  The glasses were not the ones he wears throughout the show , they were the ones he sells at his shows , but none the less he wore them during the encore and I now have them from his 35th birthday show. Thats pretty cool . It was a really cool experience . I want to thank Larry @JR adventures for getting me on the meet and greet list . Larry , that was really a nice thing you did for me. I just want to add that for me , its all about the live shows . Its the best professional touring band on the planet . Quality of sound, spontanious , visually stimulating , vintage guitars, just a CLASS act all the way around. I almost forgot , I have tickets to take my daughter and son in law to see Joe on April 26th in Minneapolis too. They are both Bonavirgins. Thats it for now , love this forum.

Thanks for the update flatsman. I guess i didn't know they sold glasses at the show? my last show was a year ago and I didn't make it to the merch table.

Looking forward to hearing the reports from the upcoming show

Hi Jane , yeah the glasses are not the wrap around just your basic dark lenses and they are stamped with " Joe Bonamassa on the ear pieces. But as I said , its not the dollar value , its the memories for me.  The best show I saw was the Chicago Theatre ( sold out )  show.  Not saying the other shows were bad just that when its sold out it makes it more exciting .

Re: Merrilleville indiana show

I'm looking forward to a Merrillville show review, too.  Things just didn't work out for me to get there tonight.  I've got to wait for the Chicago Theatre show, next May.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

Re: Merrilleville indiana show

I had a great time at the Merrilleville Indiana show last night . Joe started out with a few acoustic numbers , then went into his amazing electric bonanza. Started out with Slow Train and things just got better and better from there. This was my fourth show in the last two years and I already have tickets to the show in Minneapolis for April 27th , 2013 . I took a friend to the show and it was her first . Ten seconds into Slow Train , she leaned toward me and said " can we see this guy again ? "  LOL  Thats the typical affect Joes live shows have on folks.  The show in Minneapolis will be with my daughter and son in law . Will be the first show for both of them . I cant wait to get their response .  I was only slighty dissapointed in the stage presentation. The blue rock / cave background was not there. Im not being a critic , the show was off the hook . But for me , Joes music is world class and his presentation on stage lost just a little bit of the sparkle without the blue rock/wall background. I want to see Joe in all his glitter . That means the beautiful guitars , the vintage amps and yes , the rock wall background. That said , Joe still gets an A plus grade from me. His energy seemed over the top and seemed to really enjoy himself . Especially when he sang " If Heartaches Were NIckles . I absoulutely loved his black guitar in Django / Mountain Time . When the lights reflect off that thing and blind your eyes ,  you know for sure your at a Bonamassa guitar show.  My advice to everyone is , save your pennies and do what you have to do , in order to go to one of these live Gems. You wont be dissapointed. TREMENDOUS JOE .

Re: Merrilleville indiana show

If you didn't get to the show, I have some High Def video up on youtube.   www.youtube.com/openwheel9

Every show I've been to I think I know what to expect... Then he just knocks it out of the park and my jaw drops to the floor in awe.  How can a man be this good at what he does?

Re: Merrilleville indiana show

Thanks so much for posting the videos. Loved "If Heartaches were Nickels". So hoping he does that at the Warner on Nov 24!
