Topic: Goran Fatboy Drive

I know Goran made one for Joe and I was wondering if it made its way to him, and if so, what he thinks of it? It's on my board now, but as I'm designing my rig, I'm still 50%/50% on whether or not it will stay, or if I will have that or an additional overdrive for a nice pallet of different tones. We shall see.

Re: Goran Fatboy Drive

The other pedal I'd like to try is the rodenberg GAS-828... which is essentially a dual tube screamer set up.

Re: Goran Fatboy Drive

Ordered my Goran Fat Boy almost two months ago - took about six weeks for my name to work it's way to the top of the list (since manufacturing is backlogged) - then a couple days hassle to wire the money to Belgrade, Croatia - and I'm watching the tracking number as it winds it's way to me...

Can't wait - will be sure to post a review here!

Re: Goran Fatboy Drive

Joe hasn't received his Fat Boy yet. It's still sitting on my desk. It didn't arrive from Serbia before Joe left for the Asian trip. I'll send it out here in a few days as he is returning stateside. I did not want it to get lost in the shuffle.

In the meantime, the pedal got another smashingly good review from my friends at the always excellent Vintage Guitar Magazine. I'm more impressed by the thing every time I plug it into another amp, or device. Amazingly well voiced, and versatile - mind you, maybe not for death metal smile

I love the way it sweeps from Fenderish grit to throaty Marshall wail. Very sweet.

Re: Goran Fatboy Drive

Yes, its a killer pedal... but I'm still torn on whether or not it'll stay in my live rig... for me, it may be a studio pedal... but again, still haven't decided. I'm still waiting to get my new amp that will be the main amp in my new live rig... I'll have to see how it plays with that.

Tony,

I subscribe to that and loved seeing that review.

Doing "the pee pee dance" (hopping foot to foot) for mine to arrive and  I have you to thank for the recommendation on this - so, once again, THANKS!

Re: Goran Fatboy Drive

My Goran FatBoy arrived earlier this week, but didn't get a chance to really check it out until today - WOW!!!

I need to invent some new superlative adjectives for this thing - it's even better than I thought.

It's dual design of "on" plus "lead" is incredible - and it just crunches at even low volume on the amp (where the pedal's doing all the work).

It's the most expensive pedal I own, but now I would pay twice what I did for it - two HUGE thumbs up from me!

Re: Goran Fatboy Drive

Tell me more. Is this a distortion pedal or a OD? Or a combination of both?

Re: Goran Fatboy Drive

Remarkably I found one on fleabay. This thing is bad ****!!!

Re: Goran Fatboy Drive

Joe's pedal will probably land in Florida (J&R) today, or Monday - hopefully, it can then find its way into his hands somewhere out on the road. I'm anxious to hear what he thinks. I've only seen rave reviews, including Vintage Guitar Magazine and my own, Billy Gibbons, and Leslie West, both of whom are currently using the pedal.

Here's a link to my review, if anyone missed it.

Re: Goran Fatboy Drive

How does it compare to other great Plexi/JCM pedals like the Guv'nor or the MI Audio Crunch Box?

Re: Goran Fatboy Drive

Are you worried Tony?  Joe will get it.

You want a plexi pedal? The Rockett Animal will do very nicely.

You want to get badass? Get the Fatboy.

I already have the MI Crunch Box, which I like a lot, but it doesn't have the additional boost/Solo channel of the Fat Boy. So I wonder how they compare.

Actually, I was more worried about my end of it! When I'm trying to do something as an in-between, I just like to make sure I do what I am supposed to do for all.

Goran is a really great guy, and I try to help him in any way I can smile
