Win a SIGNED Black Country Communion Guitar

Black Country Communion release their stunning new album, AFTERGLOW, this week and we are celebrating by giving away a beautiful signed guitar PLUS limited edition copies of the new album on CD/DVD and vinyl.

Keep reading to find out more about the new album and more about the competition...

Written over six months but recorded in just five days AFTERGLOW is the quickfire follow-up to BCC's brilliant second album, which was released last year. It is a definite gear change from their first two, with a marked effort to diversify their sound and do something altogether more ambitious rather than just repeat past glories. The result is an album that leans on soul and blues (and even a tiny little bit of prog) as well as straight ahead hard rock.

From the the opening funky groove of 'Big Train' to the altogether more rocky in 'This Is Your Time' - a great big ballsy blues riff from Joe and a big soulful chorus that can onlyhave been sung by the Voice Of Rock - it is clear that the songwriting has evolved. It is an album littered with highlights - not least on the album's bluesiest moment, 'Cry Freedom', which features a brilliant duet from Joe and Glenn, and on the 'Ramble On'-esque quiet-loud stomp of 'Dandelion'.

AFTERGLOW's best moments, though, are those when the band allow themselves the opportunity to go "anthemic" - the layered beauty of the title track, for example, is amongst the best things that BCC have ever done, while the dark atmospheric build and release of 'The Circle' demands that you add another few notches on the volume control.

Glenn's responsibility for the bulk of the songwriting gives you a stylistic consistency across the album's eleven songs, meaning that AFTERGLOW is perhaps a little more "complete" as a record than BCC I or II. That being said, this is undeniably a Black Country Communion record which allows each of its four members to shine individually AND as a unit.

In an astonishingly short space of time BCC have managed to forge an identifiable sound of their own across a solidly excellent back catalogue of material that would make even the biggest rock acts of the past 30 years jealous. And what is most impressive is that there is no sign of burning out, as AFTERGLOW may well prove to be the crown jewel in their collection so far.
