Topic: Simon McBride on Tour

An unashamed plug for Simon McBride's upcoming tour, 'cause the guy is so damned good at delivering live. There is a lot of media buzz about Simon, comparing him to some of the greats (not least his Irish compatriots Rory and Gary R.I.P.). I think Simon would be the first to say that he doesn't sound like either but that he has been greatly influenced by their passion and aggression. Simon's latest album 'Crossing The Line' is a real eye opener - it's such a classy product, with great songs.

He's playing 10 dates: Leeds, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Nottingham, Colchester, Hertford, Gloucester, Guildford, London, Liverpool. details from his web site http://www.simonmcbride.net

Thanks for the update!  I didn't realize that Simon had a new album out until I checked out his website based off of your post.  Simon is a great player and songwriter.   I'd love to see a triple bill of Joe Bonamassa, Simon McBride, and Davy Knowles.

I love Simon's music, just wish he would tour more often and even cross the pond.   Would be a very happy girl if Simon were to be playing a gig anywhere near London the last week of March 2013 when I plan to be over for Joe's big party.

- new album is superb. Just wish the gig nearest to me was not at an over 16 venue sad as my son really enjoyed seeing Simon in 2009 and would like to do so again. Personal gripe over wink

Ian ...loved that 'Little wing' vid' ...not been lucky enough to witness Simon perform that 'live' myself but fingers crossed,one day!

...another example of the Simon Power Trio "Live' ....one of my concoctions again,using the the audio off the CD cos' the camera audio was totally unusable,think Simon overdubbed the vocals on this cos' the PA at the Barfly was shot!? ....the video was from the Barfly gig! ...some great interaction between Simon and Carl on the bass here! ...Simon's version of Power of Soul.

Great gig two nights ago at the Maze in Nottingham, warm up act was fellow Irishman Gareth Dunlop who did a fine acoustic set and is definitely worth a listen. Then Simon came on for a two hour set playing the likes of; Lead Us Away, Go Down Gamblin', Down to the Wire, Power of Soul, The Promise, Home to Me, Heartbreaker, Hell Waters Rising and One More Try.
Interestingly on the way through town we passed hundreds queueing to get into Rock City to see Opeth and when we got to our gig there was maybe just 50 - 60 of us, I wouldn't have swapped my place for nothing and would heartily recommend going to see him live :-)

Got tickets for me and the wife to see him at the Robin R&B Club here in the Midlands in March. The more I listen to this guy, the more I love his work. He is a class act guitarist and tonally, not a million miles from JB in many songs. Anyone else going to see him in 2013?

So far not yet in 2013, not until he adds a London date. However i did see him last November at the Islington Academy, he was most entertaining and well worth a night out. I also feel his most recent album 'Crossing The Line' is his best thus far, which when i saw him, constituted the majority of his setlist, so make sure you know this album. You can find this setlist at WWW.SETLIST.FM. Enjoy his show it won't disappoint.

Damn...that '9 Lives' video - fun stuff. I couldn't help but imagine what that would have sounded like with E&K behind him. I know, I know. But it did come to mind. I'll crawl back in my hole now.
