Topic: How is Eric Gales cd/dvd?

If anyone has it,
please speak up.

Re: How is Eric Gales cd/dvd?

I just got it last night and only had one listen, it is really really good. It is a CD/DVD combo package. For starters, instead of sub-ins for bass and drums he had the real guys Steve Evans and Aaron Haggerty from the last 3 studio recordings. He mixes it up with some old and some new, with some of the old ones slowed down a bit and reworked. The Liar and Retribution are standouts for me. I did not get a chance to load the DVD, it's got a couple extra songs I think. Will listen some more in the coming days and watch the DVD and see if my opinion changes, but I don't think so. A must have if you like Eric's style of blues.

Mine was in the mailbox when I got home Friday. I listened to the CD on the drive up to Buffalo this morning. Its WORTHY. Eric was on his game that night! I just seem to prefer live recordings as opposed to studio for the most part. I'll try to view the DVD tomorrow or Wednesday evening.

Re: How is Eric Gales cd/dvd?

Just got mine yesterday, direct from Eric. Heard some cuts on  a radio show he was on after getting back home from a week on the road, then an all night studio session with Lauryn Hill. Running pretty much on empty, he did a 2 hour radio show, then a seminar at a university before getting home. The cuts I heard yesterday were, of course, stellar.  Gonna listen to the rest of the CD today.  Eric's heading out over the weekend to rehearse for the upcoming Lauryn Hill tour such starts on Oct 29 in Dallas.  He's also done guitar clinics recently, video available  at http://www.youtube.com/user/mutefingers

Listened to the full Live CD today. I have to say it was an awesome CD. great Mix with good sound.  Must've been pulled from sounded board during performance. Limited ambient Crowd noise and very clean, no muddiness at all. Selections of songs perfect, Eric's guitar work stellar, bassist and drummer were tight and added the right backup to Eric.  Have yet to view the DVD.

Welcome to the forum Doug, there are a quite a few of us Gales fans here. Are you from the Memphis area? Joe and Eric are probably my two favorite guitarists at this time. Joe seems to have a more refined sound, Eric of course is just "Raw Dawg" and always will be. Maybe you could post on the introductions and tell us a little about yourself, if you want to. again it's good to have you here, post away as the mood strikes you, it's a fun Bonafamily to say the least.
