Topic: Robert Randolph & the Family Band

Probably preachin' to the choir here, but a "brother on another forum" just brought Robert Randolph & Family Band back to my attention.

Think most will have heard him on the 2007 Crossroads DVD they blew away everyone, for me, with just one song; Nobody Soul. The whole band just had tremendous power.  He was on Paul Jones show a couple of weeks ago, great show and what a nice guy, no signs of inflated ego!

Think we’ve just missed a UK/Europe tour, only dates I can find are for the US:-

Re: Robert Randolph & the Family Band

Saw Robert last October. It was a Monday night gig to a not so full auditorium but he was excellent. The songs were less gospel like on albums and more jan band style arrangements with a lot of big rock endings and solos. Had all the ladies come up on stage and dance during a tune and brought an audience member up to play guitar. Guy either wasn't much of a player or was nervous. I did enjoy the performance though. He had 6 or 7 steels off to side of stage but used same one all night.

Re: Robert Randolph & the Family Band

Got to listen and meet him @ KFOG radio in SF the week before he played with Joe @ Crossroads. Very levelheaded guy and a unique & talented player. They even provided promo posters of Robert & he signed for everybody in attendance as well as snappin' pix when requested, reminded me a lot of JB.
