Only time live for me, free concert, your town in '69. Weeks before I shipped out to Nam.  yikes It was painted black, and not exactly a social event.

The day the "Summer of Love" officially died! Still happy to this day I changed my mind about going when the location changed from Sears Point Raceway in Sonoma.

They were originaly going to play at Sears Point?

The original plan was to play in Golden Gate Park. The City had one stipulation, no advance publicity, but Mick leaked it to the media in an interview weeks before and the City of SF pulled the permit. They had a plan to play @ Sears Point Raceway as an alternate plan, but that fell through @ the 11th hour. I was just about out the door when I heard on the radio the show was being moved again to Altamont Speedway, which I had never heard of or knew where it was at either. It's no wonder this ill conceived gig was a disaster. In hindsight Mick said it probably wasn't a good idea having the Grateful Dead bringing the Hell's Angels along to handle security. His comments spawned a contract on his life by the HA's which didn't work out when they tried to carry it out by slipping on shore at an estate he was staying at in the Hamptons years ago. I'm sure you can Google some info on that story.

For you American fans, they are also playing at The Prudential Center, Newark, New Jersey on Thursday 13th December 2012 and Saturday 15th December 2012.

Tickets are the same sort of price.

The only thing is I missed part of Seal because I went to get a cool T-Shirt with the tour info and they were all sold out.  And that was before the Stones even started.  I had to go to the third deck to finally get it, and was so happy they had.  But by the time I got back, Seal was over sad

I've liked the Stones pretty much since day one, went out and bought High Tide and Green Grass as soon as it was released. The song is just OK for me, still sounding same old, same old. I would not go see them again, especially at those prices. Exile on Main Street was the pinnacle for me, Mick Taylor, Nicky Hopkins and Jim Horn. Stevie Wonder opened the show, $6.50 US. smile

Didn't bother with a costume either. You see a lot of bizarre attire at a Stones gig no matter what night it is. I do recall more than a couple pregnant nun costumes. I was in my seat for all of Seals set, it was awesome, but it was a bit of a distraction with people milling around our section on the field just a few rows back in the second floor section. I recall Harris Barton of the Niners sitting a row in front of us and catching flack for being on the DL, but feeling well enough to dance to the Stones.

Depending on the price, I would like to see them again.  I am hoping for a long shot, would love for it to be on Halloween again.  It was way too cool!  Yeah, sorry I missed Seal, a number of people tell me to go and see his show.  But I still have that shirt, so I think I will wear it this Halloween.  Yeah a lot of people were milling around during that show.  It was a party atmosphere.

Heard Gimme Shelter today, that may be my favorite Stones song.  Can't wait to hear what the tour is like smile

These guys were the first concert I ever went to - 1969 at Boston Garden - ended up right in front of the stage.  I think it cost about $6.00.  I won't go see them now - don't won't to spoil the cool memories of that night.  The opener was BB King!

Watched a good part of the Crossfire Hurricane on HBO, some really awesome old footage and stories. Really had me wanting to see the Stones live again. Is there going to be a tour in 2013? I kept hearing they were going to tour again and was so disappointed to have just NYC in US.


Anyone pick up the cd? I read the track listing on Itunes, great compilation however a lot of duplications if you already have some of the other compilations? Likely will still purchase it though!

I don't understand why the Stones keep parading these same greatest hit records every other year.  I've had all these songs for 30 to 40 years.
