Nice pick Rick, I love a Steeler loss anytime, one man gathers what another man spills. Oxygen sensors are usually the culprit when I get the check engine warning on my Ford Ranger P/U.

It was the O2 sensor JDawg ($300! ouch), but they had to wipe the ECU log to get it to pass smog. Now I have to drive far enough to get the Evap and Catalyst sensors to reset and read so they can do testing. How far? No one knows except keep coming back until they go ready. yikes
I'm up to my usual stellar picks. One yard short and three points down. Glad I'm not a betting man...

$300! Ouch is right. My mechanic is too kind to his clientele, the last one was only $125. I've heard that 30 miles is the typical distance to get everything functioning for a retest, good luck. I'm havin' a helluva time with mine again, but @ 198,990 on the odometer what do you expect? Back to topic, I'm feelin' it, this Sunday might be time for a Cleveland win. Jimmy Haslam is not planning any big changes yet as the sale of the team will be completed on the 16th, but everybody agrees that 0-5 is not acceptable, so somethin's gotta give soon.

(What's an oxygen sensor on a pickup? And why?)

O2 sensors detect excessive amounts of pollutants in the exhaust system and the vehicles on board computer notifies the driver with a "check engine" light on the dash panel. If you look in the vehicle manual it tells you to drive it straight to a dealer, to get fleeced by overpriced dealer repair rates, go figure. O2 sensors are part of all late model vehicles sold in the US and in Ca. you have to pass a smog test every 2 years to renew your vehicle registration unless you live outside the metropolitan areas where it's not required. A friend of mine lives in the Bay Area, but registers all 5 vehicles he, his wife, and son own in Groveland in the Sierras where he has a summer home.

I'll bet it was only the MAF (mass airflow sensor)....this has happened twice to me.... a $5 can of MAF spray fixed it each time.....I hope you plugged into your cars computer, the little cheap whatchamacalit that I bought at the Autozone store has saved me A LOT of money, reads all the codes and told me exactly what to look for, and cleaned the codes that popped up on the screen after I finished....your a million times smarter than me, so you probably just shake your head at me Rick roll wink

good news on Trent's injury JDawg, he's day to day and expected to play at Indy this Sunday. Browns cannot afford to be without him, Colts rushing defense is not so good. See what the Jets did to them?

I'm doubting that million times smarter, I'm doubting even a smidgen. We all have our fortes but I think common sense rules. It was indeed the o2 sensor, now all is well except I have to keep driving until the darned ecu re reads the cat and evap. Totally blew off the rest of my picks, I got locked into watching the ultimate skydive and plain forgot. It's just as well as I would have continued to hold up the rear guard. lol Go Chargers tonight. We have it on TV!!! big_smile

There was a football game on tonight????? How did Denver score 4 points? Two safeties? If it was tied how did the score become 28-24?

According to my Scorecenter app the score was never tied, 5 TD's in the second half for Denver.
