Topic: NGD - Gibson LP Classic Custom

I have wanted a Les Paul since I was a kid. Most of my guitar heroes (Ace Frehley, Jimmy Page, Scott Gorham & Brian Robertson from Thin Lizzy, Gary Moore and Alex Lifeson - not forgetting of course JB himself!) are LP players.

I never thought I would ever own one, but at the the age of 47 I finally got my wish. I had to re-arrange the herd and sell some other bits and pieces but it was worth it. I really wanted a JB LP Studio, but I tried one and I just didn't click with the 50's neck (sorry Joe). I then went very close to getting a Yamaha SA2200 which is an awesome guitar, but it ain't a Les Paul.

Eventually I found this one and I loved the 60's profile neck - it was perfect for me. I changed the black speed knobs for the silver tops and I might get a couple of amber knobs to give it the JP LP effect. It has a baked maple fretboard which is actually really nice - it felt like the ebony board on the Yamaha. It has '57 Classic pickups. Now I just need to get a decent amp.

Very nice looking guitar... Was the JBLP Studio you played the one in Gallins Guitars in Sydney??  Sounds like EVERYONE on this forum has played that particular one! lol

You should still see if you can swing an SA2200 - I've got one and they are an amazing guitar.  Everyone NEEDS a semi hollowbody electric! big_smile

Ha - no the one I played was in Cranbourne Music in Melbourne. I would love to be able to get the SA2200 but I don't like my chances. We have a 1 year old and the B&C is talking about moving house! I think I will have to be happy with the LP for a while.
