Topic: hey joe,tone on the extended solo on studio take of "i'll take of you"

is that the carol ann jb100? reminds me of the stop! solo, but even fatter and darker.  i love both tones.

the times i've heard the jb100 live, i've found it to be a bit brighter.  do you run the jb100 on overdrive live?  on "stop!" and "i'll take care of you," it sounds like the input gain is dimmed.  is that the case?

I listen to ill take care of you purely for the guitar solo. I don't have a clue what amps are used but they are perfect. The tone is dark and doesn't seem like it would shine through in a live setting but on the recording it really sings. Of course with enough volume anything will overpower a band.

That would of been the Gibson Gary Rossington Les Paul thats currently on tour with me here in OZ and my 1979 Jim Kelley FACS amp straight in.... Most of that record was the Jim Kelley with various guitars...

The tones on that album are some of my very favourite...of any player...and there is just something super special (as I keep saying!) about the general atmosphere of that record.
Gotta be the solo...and song I'd Rather Go Blind for me...woah..spectacular.

i thought the tones on that album were really consistent...could't tell if was just the hands. after all, i've heard clips of you w/ nothing but a 65 reverb and a stock tubescreamer that fooled me into thinking it was a 112 combo version of one of your regular amps.

my facs is a two channel head, serial number 2. i've been driving it more for vintage rock tones, but i'm going to work on approximating this tone this weekend.  maybe have it reading for some shows the following week!

The Rossington shines brightly on the BCC Live Over Europe DVD as well.  That axe rocks!
