Topic: Rockford 9/2/07 - Recording

This festival in Rockford has a great lineup, which of course includes Joe Bonamassa.  However, I was going to head down for Kansas and their drum tech called me, knowing I am a Joe fan, to state that they were playing at the exact same time as Joe on different stages.

I want to tape both shows and have the gear to do so, but can't be both places at the same time!

I was wondering if anyone half-way savvy with recording shows would basically just hit record on my equipment, set the levels, and possibly pull off a recording while I am at Kansas?

I just wish both were not on right at the same time. If Joe's start time was moved, I think I'd be able to handle everything!

Just putting a feeler out there.

Yeah,
I also see that Dave Mason is opening for Kansas. I may try to catch some of that before heading over to see Joe. No choice for me between Joe and Kansas...like Kansas, love Joe.

I am still thinking start times could differ that I could pull off both, but who knows.  At the Joe show, I'd be able to set up my mic stand with the mics, run the cable down to the recorder and all anyone has to do is hit a record button and set the levels during the first song, which is easy to do.

Then after I get things set over at Kansas, I'll run over the to the Joe stage and see how things are going.

I'll need a golf cart or I will get a lot of exercise!

I'm actually a big Kansas fan. Seen then over 100+ times. I like all kinds of music. Prog rock, 70s easy listening, Joe, jazz fusion, you name it.

I'm not really sure where I'll be between the two stages, but I do know I want to try and record both.  There are a few Kansas songs I don't want to miss and Joe may put on a longer set.
