Front row seats for Sonny Landreth.

If you look up to the heavens just before the start of every Joe Bonamasaa concert you can see Stevie, Jimi, Muddy, Gary and others leaning over God’s railing jockeying for the best view. 
And if you listen, you can hear Stevie say  “ SHHhhhh,  The kids about to start playing.”

I did a search and found a couple of threads. None really close so here I'll stick it.

I saw Sonny Landreth tonight with the better half. He's been around a long time. I've had him on my list forever and this was it. Great table in a supper club just 6 feet from the stage. Sonny and his trio just tore it up. I've seen some great slide players and Sonny takes the cake! No idea of the set list, I got the show on audio, no vids possible in the venue though I tried shooting blind and maybe... but I don't care since I was rapt and enjoying the show to the max.

We met him after the show and had a brief chat, photo and autographed cd. Very nice guy and appreciative of the fans lined up for the meet.
Wow! Don't miss him if he comes near. You've never heard slide like this.  He's a master.

So glad you got to see Sonny. Tarus52 from here runs with the Sonny Krewe. They got George the seat at Sonny's feet for a show at the Ram's Head. smile The sad thing is he won't make a video. Doesn't like his looks even though people want to see his hands. There's where the magic happens. His hands are everywhere. Mesmerizing. He's a really sweet guy. I always want to feed him wink  Cathy

I know he is a Master and I'm scared to speak that out loud: I like his music but not live.
When I saw him live at a festival the meanings were really divided. Some people said he was one or the best player at the festival and others were bored and showed thumbs down.
For me he's a perfect player but live his music doesn't touch me.

I sat front row.  His hands ARE everywhere.  The drummer ROCKED and the bass player was laying down some HEAVY HEAVY bass.  A truly great evening, and tickets were only $40 a piece.
