People (not specifically here on the forum) Arrrrrrhh making way too much out of the officiating in my opinion.  Trust me, the players are taking FULL advantage of this.  They get away with things with "regular" refs, things the refs see and do not call.  The regulars miss much, more acccurately, overlook much and it IS subjective (the line between allowed and flagged) and NFL politically administered.  Face it, some things illegal now became that because of inadequate player caliber (not just physical), cheating, rule bending, and, better take a gulp now, an evolved "bounty" atmosphere that didn't ever need pay incentive.  And the regulars are part of a "show".  You bitched about calls with them, even with instant replay.


A lame analogy of the current situation is modifying a paraphrase of Donald Rumsfeld, "As you know, you play football with the refs you have, not the refs you might want, or wish to have (or will have, at a later date). 


Get out there and kick **** and take names!  Quit bitching!  The star players will (are) still starring, pro bowl players are playing to their level, key players, impact players, franchise anchor players can ALL still do their thing(s), and the "presumed" gentlemen (a loose definition for sure, and I DO mean in real life especially) could and can play at a level of skill and knowledge that almost precludes a need for officials (ok, go ahead and laugh, I am lol)....... What a weekend of upsets!
Good Job with your Raiders Cat. I pray Darius is ok. My BIL is grinning, especially since the Bolts stunk up the place. Lucky for me I didn't get to watch, but they did show the Raiders game instead. roll (I don't know which was worse. wink ) I broke down and got a new 50" tv and the first game it shows is Raiders? lol Boy does Joe at the Beacon look good though!

The blackouts may continue unabated since this town shuns a loser and that is what Sunday's effort presages. The poor economy and having to shuck out $500 for a family day at the game in a lousy stadium will take its toll.

Just saw an update on Bey, he's in stable condition @ Eden Med Center with just a neck injury. He's not suffering any paralysis, but still being held for observation.

Geez, six correct picks ain't all that bad with the bizarre results we've seen this weekend! A number of 'experts' only had four or five right. big_smile

AS for the Skins, I can report that RG3 played another excellent game and more than held his own, despite taking a lot of heavy hits, something I don't think he'll be able to stand for a whole season.

There's been an about turn from last season, when the defense kept the Skins in games while the offense consistently failed to deliver. This season, the offense is not bad at all; calling the defense 'awful' is almost too kind. They suck, big time.

Thank God for the Ravens, though they kept me up till 6 am waiting for that last second FG. If it wasn't for them, my Sunday would have been a complete washout with the Skins, Nats and O's all losing.

The Cincinnati Bengals were more than good Sunday, but they didn’t ruin Robert Griffin III’s home debut for the Washington Redskins. No. This was an inside job, perpetrated by the very people who were supposed to have their rookie quarterback’s back, committed by the one unit Mike Shanahan “thought was going to be the strength of our football team.”

I understand what you are saying.  I am a Raider fan, so Refs are not exactly the first people we give Christmas presents too.  Maybe that has been our problem wink

But there is a difference between your starters and your back-ups.  There your starters because they do a better job.  I have no problem with instant replay. 

And you are right, the players are taking full advantage of knowing they can get away with more than normal. 

But when you have blown call after blown call and more illegal hits happening, I can just see the potential for it to get a lot uglier.   

The Refs and the NFL will reach a deal sooner or later and I just hope it is sooner.  These replacements are really having a hard time of it.

If any of you saw the finish to tonights game, there's no denying now these ref's are MORONS!!!!!!! This has gone past ridiculous to the point of absurd!!!!!!!! The game was over as soon as the Seahawk that SUPPOSEDLY caught the TD pass pushed the defender to the ground, offensive pass interference.....game over! The Pack got jobbed twice on the same play which decided the game.

I usually don't stay up for all of MNF, but son talked me into it last night. sorry I had to see that ending, the refs must go now that they have officially overturned a GB win. Those were not the only bad calls of the night, several other questionable interference or not interference calls were dead wrong imo. It was apparent at the end call that the receiver never had possession but was attempting to take it away from the defender on the way down. Did they ever review that? I hope Roger and the league are happy now, I won't be staying up next week. But it still makes for good publicity, do they really want to change it?

They did review it and from what Gruden and Tirico said the guys in the booth aren't replacements. Pete Carroll's post game comment, "Hey, a tie goes to the runner!". Aaron Rodgers comment, "Awful, just awful", which may get him a fine after the league put out the word to lighten up on the "replacements". If this level of officiating continues my Browns might win a game!

From what I understand, by rule, possession (as in who has ball) is not reviewable, only if it was a catch. Seems odd to me but I guess that's the case in this instance
