Topic: Space Shuttle "Endeavour"

Jumping in the ragtop to watch the last trip...it will fly over Sacramento in about an hour, 1500 ft is very low, on top of the modified 747 it looks really cool!!.....it just took off from Andrews AFB....I think I have the perfect spot on top of a hill top about 7 miles away, got the binoculars too smile

Shreddy....been flying real high for a very long time lol

Re: Space Shuttle "Endeavour"

Sweet Shreddy! Those flyovers are special. I remember a camping trip in the high Sierra with the wife and kids. We heard this huge sonic boom, looked up and there was a contrail streaking across the sky at an unbelievable rate. Later, it made sense. One of the last flights of the SR71 Blackbird that had taken off from China Lake and was in the process of setting a speed record coast to coast. Flying high!

INCREDIBLE!!!.....seriously....there had to be 100 folks at the same spot I was...."look, 3 oclock".....it banked at about 3 miles from us....a man with a tripod and a sweet camera (Rhonda, you would have loved it) was snapping like you would not believe...as it left us, it was in the middle of a tree line, I'm kicking myself for not getting that guys email addy....quite emotional for a 90ish WW2 naval pilot, and another genleman with his 85yo Romanian father....chills and thrills for sure....$14 million to renovate the Shuttle to put it on display in So Cal....cant recall what city, I'm sure it will be easy to find

Geeze, that sounds great Shreddy. I hope it is coming here. We have a very fine Aerospace Museum in Balboa Park.

Re: Space Shuttle "Endeavour"

Hey Shred - good for you catching site of that baby! I spent an hour on top of our ranch house hoping it would fly close by coming up from L.A. but no luck. I had my binocs and camera ready too. Ah well.

Why don't we eliminate all the warning labels and let things sort themselves out?

Re: Space Shuttle "Endeavour"

Tons of pix & videos of the flight splitting the towers of the Golden Gate Bridge. Just check YouTube and Facebook.

BBC footage for you all. Saw this years ago in the early 80's when it flew over Birmingham. Great sight.

Re: Space Shuttle "Endeavour"

I remember seeing it fly overhead in the mid 1980's while walking to class at University of Maryland. An unbelievable site. Don't know where it was going to or coming from, but will never forget the image of that shuttle riding on that 747.

I saw the shuttle itself one night in Northern New York about a dozen years ago, when the moon was full and huge.  It was so surreal to see moonlight reflect off it...I had
tracked it on NASA, was actually surprised I saw it, even though I was LOOKING for it.  Didn't expect to be able to recognize it, so it was an amazing sight!

Shred, the shuttle landed in Los Angeles and will traverse to downtown LA and will be on display at the California Science Center there in Exposition Park.  A little controversy arose as many trees had to be cut down on city streets to make room for it's final journey.  The trees will be replaced.

....of course,in many ways, its a complex web thats been woven... not wishing to digress away too much, which is hard, from Shred's intention when posting but hope he allows me this one response...

...i feel/think this parade was for the benefit of the Gods above more than the people below who get to marvel at the tech' their tax dollars have been spent on ....don't get me wrong,i marvel at tech' too!

...there are so many ways to respond to this... but in The Duat ...the soul passes through the silver gate at birth and the golden gate at death and continues on its journey to the center of the galaxy ...and supposedly we approach Galactic centre!? ...the silver and gold gates also refer to points in the constellation of Osiris ...'Duat' is very close to Duality ..."as above so below" ...'reality' ...i could go on and on and on but as i said do not wish to digress any further ...its up to the individual to decide whether he or she delves into these parts, parts which i find fascinating although kinda scary at times, but people are distracted in so many ways!

...why did Felice Peretti di Montalto chose, when 'elected' as Pope, the name Sixtus V? ...now that opens a whole mass of mind boggling stuff!

...sorry Shred'y! wink

Re: Space Shuttle "Endeavour"

It quite ok with me Pete...hmm...maybe this all does have higher meaning....and maybe Lynn is right on the mark, that date is coming closer, and I'd be lying if I said I'm not concerned....well if the time has come, it was all to short for me

Good video, and I love the funny line on the plane attachment. My sort of humour (other than sarchasm obviously). big_smile
