Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Well, JDawg is safe from the Pads. Two more losses  and two more key players out with injuries put us out of reach. Limping towards the finish line.

...is pretty much what the Nats are doing right now. I hope for the return of some serious Natitude tonight, Jdawg - for us, and for you. wink

Tres, I think I've seen Medlen three times this season, and he's looked awesome every time. I hope he busts that old record.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

I was actually reading an article on Oregon State football, that Mike Riley had taken the entire team to In-and-Out after their win over UCLA Saturday. and this link comes up for Timmy, he may have to worry more about cholesterol than not gaining weight. What a pig, I know he can expend many calories in a game but this is a lot of fat calories. My son would have trouble eating that and he has an incredible capacity for packing it in. This is a serious case of the munchees. lol

Tres, that article was from 2011. Timmy quit the In-N-Out diet last winter before spring training. When he was struggling out of the gate everyone thought he'd lost too much "burger weight" and it was affecting his stamina. Whatever was wrong he has righted it in the past month or so, back to his winning ways. As far as In-N-Out goes I agree with the article's writer, it's so-so. Their burgers are decent, but the fries have to be eaten right away as they taste like the tray they are served in after about 5 mins. I also have a problem with them stamping scripture quotes on most of the packaging. They are owned by a very conservative Christian family from Orange County. I'll take Five Guys any day and leave the Bible out of the mix please!!!

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

I didn't realize it was old news Dawg, but still funny. Why is it the skinny people can pack away so much in one sitting? Yeah I would object to being preached at just for buying some food. Since we're on the subject, I do like Five Guys fries, their tremendous. But I can make their burgers in my sleep. It's outrageous how much they get for their standard "double patty" and it's not ground chuck, you can tell it's run of the mill hamburger. I don't want anything in my hamburger but ground chuck and some seasonings, very hard to find a restaurant that does strictly chuck.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

A 12-2 win this afternoon splits the series with the Brewers, only five games needed for the title! Gio first pitcher to 20 wins earlier this week, all very cool

Who do we like for the NL Cy Young, which appears to be between Dickey, Gio, and Cueto? R.A. has a slightly better ERA than the other two, and eight more k's than Gio, but has also pitched 27 more innings than Gio.

You could lock up the Division in 3 games with the magic number @ 5. The number drops by 1 with each Nats win, but drops by 2 with Nats win and a Braves loss the same day. Is that clear as mud G Dawg??? You guys win your next 3 and Braves lose next 2 and you clinch.

You wouldn't care one bit for In-N-Out then, a very bland burger with a Jack like secret sauce on it. In-N-Out is a bare bones operation, burgers, fries, shakes, & sodas. It can take 15-20 mins. to get an order if you drop in @ lunch or dinner time. With the price of gas these days in Cali. you have to figure in the cost of idling in their drive through. I remember my high school days slammin' a couple of drive-in burgers n fries right after school then home for dinner and a late night snack of tacos or a burrito and never gained a lb. Then physiology kicked in and my metabolism would let everything go to the waistline around 30 or so.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

something tells me we won't lose tonight, Kris Medlen goes for his 22nd straight win at Turner Field vs the Fish that he just beat last week for #21. Nice piece of history in the making if he can get it done.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Whitey Ford and Carl Hubbell have company now, thanks to the walkoff home run. Kris pitched well but did not get the win and gave up 2 dingers to a guy named Solano?? I hate that it was overshadowed by the Braves also officially making the playoffs. I'd like to know what it was Kris said he would do if Freddie hit the homer, have a feeling it's something he cannot repeat in mixed company. lol

Padres got the Dodgers last night and can be some nice spoilers if we can eliminate them from the playoffs on this homestand. tongue:

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Haven't seen nothing about my Cards mentioned here since Tres' revelation that he didn't care for my team.  It'll be interesting if they meet for the one off.  I really like our chances with Carpenter back.  Won't really matter since the Reds and Nats are both so strong.  Look for Strasburg to return.  He did need the rest, but will be  ready and hungry come October.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

I believe that goes back to last year, and it was Tony that I didn't like, not the team. I was a Cards fan for a while back in the 60's when living in North Little Rock, we got all the games on radio with Jack Buck I guess it was. Parents would make me go on to bed around 9 or shortly thereafter but would let me listen to it even though I had a morning newspaper route. think Lou Brock, Curt Flood, Ken Boyer, Orlando Cepeda, Bob Gibson, Tim McCarver......they had some great teams there in the mid 60's. I too think SS will be back.
