I don't know what the SG is... But is 8.15 good for a 53 year old p90?

From Wiki,
All Gibson P-90 pickups (vintage and otherwise) were machine wound on Lesona coil winding machines, although their electrical specifications may vary slightly due to operator error. In common with many other modern pickup types, there are two versions of modern P-90: neck and bridge version. Their DC resistance tends to be around 7-8kΩ for neck pickups and 8-9kΩ for bridge pickups. Earlier pickups (around 1952) had Alnico 3 magnets, but in 1957 Gibson switched to Alnico 5.

I'd say that is a good value. Your ear will tell you the truth.

Re: decisions, decision...

I hope its worth it. I've quit smoking, quit drinking, and pretty much just about destroyed my social life so I can save up fast enough. If that isn't dedication, I dont know what is haha.

Re: decisions, decision...

Positive reinforcement on the stopped smoking!  What better way to kick that old habit then to buy a 59' jr!

Re: decisions, decision...

Hey not sure if that was you that bought the guitar but I was looking to see what the price of the guitar was when I saw it isn't listed anymore.  Anyway I was going to post another Jr. for your consideration but I think it cost a little more.  http://wildwoodguitars.com/products/978 … 87&n=1

Re: decisions, decision...

I'm hoping Joe looks this far back, cuz I'd like to get his input again. I'm wondering if there is a difference between any of the 58-61 LP jr double cuts. Found another '59... The body is in better condition but there are some indentations in the fretboard. And I found a '61 that could be a good possibility too. There are also a couple '58s. Ahhh the decisions! The '60s seem to be the most expensive though

Re: decisions, decision...

If it was me , I'd buy the player.......as long as you get an approval period for it.........Save the money for something else...

And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually.........

Re: decisions, decision...

If the indentations on the fretboard run horizontally then it's been played and aren't really anything to worry about. Buy what you can afford and enjoy it!! Good luck!!!!!

Re: decisions, decision...

They do seem a bit deep.

It's you that needs to decide what's the best for you. Not me, not Joe, not anyone on some forum. It's gonna be your guitar. And of course it's your money. Call them. If they seem less than honest then they're likely just that.

Re: decisions, decision...

Haha I love Phil X and David Brass (the owner of Fretted Americana) is a really awesome guy. He let me spend about 2 hours there playing anything I wanted. Really cool spot.
