Topic: Joe Walsh/Analog Man

It's been 20 years since Joe has released a solo effort, but this was worth the wait. If you go to www.rollingstone.com you can hear his new album in its entirety. I gave it a listen and can't wait to get a copy. Stand out tracks are the title, Analog Man, Wrecking Ball, Band Played On, Funk 50(yes, a follow up to 48&49), and the closing track India, a smorgasbord instrumental of tones & styles. Track #7, One Day At A Time is great too. It contains metaphorical lyrics regarding Joe's new life in sobriety and it's sound is a dead giveaway as to who produced this. It's got Jeff Lynne all over it. Man, if the Wilbury's were ever to regroup, Joe would be a perfect addition to the band. Here's a live sample of Wrecking Ball from the Troubador in West Hollywood.

That's really the only thing I DON'T like about it J Dawg...it's way too Wilbury-esque sounding for my taste. After all these years I'd rather have a Joe Walsh album that wasn't tainted with that post-production Wilbury vibe. I'll still pick it up (or download it) because I'm a diehard Joe Walsh fan, but man...too bad

Stu, get over it, it's one song out of a bunch of good 'uns. Yeah, if it wasn't a good tune(to Joe's credit) I'd be a little put off too. After all, it's a Joe Walsh album not ELO.

I'm not losing any sleep over it :-) but the flavor does permeate the whole record to some degree. Not saying it completely spoils it for me, just saying that's the only aspect I didn't care for. If that's one of the aspects of the album you really like, more power to ya! Just not my preference...kinda like the old "that's why they make vanilla AND chocolate ice cream" thing.

I guess I'm such a fan of Joe's guitar work that I'm subconsciously blocking that part out on most of the tunes. As it's been stated before, Joe's one of the more under rated players around. Did you like the last cut India? That's pure Joe, just cuttin' loose.

Yeah, I pretty much like it all. India does come out both-guns-blazing and then settles into a fun, galloping ride. It's one of those that can get you a ticket on the freeway! So far I'm kind of partial to "Lucky That Way" - it's got that classic Joe/James Gang feel.

I just got some great seats for the show at The Palms in Las Vegas 09/22/12. Joe has always been one of my all time favorite players. I am really looking forward to see him play solo.

What a great show. If you have any chance to see him live get your tickets and go the his show.  You will not be disappointed.

If you like the great man, and haven't seen it already, then follow this link to 'Live at Dary's'. Great episode with Joe W. as the guest.

The man looks and sounds good. Great versions of 'Rocky Mountain Way' and 'Life's been Good' and more with Daryl's house band. His playing is very fluid and subtle too. Also some nice little interviews.

A very enjoyable watch. Good to see him in such good form I thought.
