Fender still makes a good product although I must say their prices have skyrocketed over the years....

Their Custom Shop are now priced list/map more than they are worth...I.M.O.   (You almost buy an original one for what they cost today )

Only good thing ...Fender are still easy to mod since they come all apart..so you can still get want you want & do it your self...:)

And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually.........

Re: Anyone Try Fender's New Reissues?

When they near prices of a Tom Anderson or Suhr, it frightens me. People buy those guitars because it's setup perfectly, perfect action and fretwork. You're paying for that quality to the point where it doesn't matter who's name is on it. It plays like butter. The higher cost Fenders (new) I'd be really interested to see what you get for the money. I have played an Eric Johnson strat, and was quite impressed.

Nope I think they look nice but the $600-$800 price hike compared to the old Vintage USA series turned me off.

Re: Anyone Try Fender's New Reissues?

I really dislike the "road worn" strats... especially the maple necks... the wear is WAY too fake.

Re: Anyone Try Fender's New Reissues?

My whole deal is the MIM Vintage models feel as good as any american vintage series and other then the pickups being wound in mexico they use the same spec's as the Vintage american as well.  Plus they are now $1200 less.  My dad's 50's classic stratocaster sounds great, and I don't mind modding it because I didn't pay a lot for it...  its my dads so I modded the hell out of it!

Re: Anyone Try Fender's New Reissues?

A few months back I bought a candy red 57 strat reissue with the intent of installing the DG20 EMG set.  I have several strats and this quickly became my favorite both tone and feel.  The selector switch is a three position like the original but the 5 position comes in case with the bridge cover and other old school goodies and I've yet to install those parts.  I use it mainly for floyd stuff and the tones are very good as is.  I'm very happy with it.  The quality was excellent as well.

Best regards
