Topic: Singapore

I'm off to see Joe tonight in Singapore.  Looking forward to it.  It is the 2nd year in a row I've caught the show over here.

Re: Singapore

Great. Please give us a report of the show and if possible, a set list so fans have an idea what to look forward to.

Re: Singapore

I had a great time and it was a great show.  I saw him here last year and this year they had an additional level open that looked pretty close to sold out.  OK here it is.

The show started with a 20 minute acoustical set.

- Palm Trees Helicopters and Gasoline
- Seagull
- Dislocated Boy, Tal helped out on this one.
- Driving Towards the Daylight
- Woke Up Dreaming

No break, right into the bulk of the show.

- Slow Train
- Dust Bowl
- Who's Been Talking
- Midnight Blues
- John Henry (no wire thing that he has had in the past, used the slid during the parts he has used that other thing)
- Song of Yesterday
- Look Over Yonder's Wall - kind of a funky version
- Blues Deluxe
- Young Man's Blues - new and improved
- Django/Mt Time

- Sloe Gin
- Just Got Paid

Most of the songs were quite a bit different from the last time I saw him here and in Atlanta this past fall.  I'd say he played with a lot more finesse for lack of a better word.  Not that he lacked it in the pass but there were moments that were more subtle and quite.  Blues Deluxe was a good example but then he ripped it on Young Man's Blues the very next song.  Nice contrast.  Even Just Got Paid was quite a bit different.  It was all there but just changed up.  It is kind of nice to get to see slightly different versions of the songs.  Helps to keep me coming back.

Just over 2 hours long and he only really talked once and just briefly.

That is all....................

Re: Singapore

Thanks a lot for the set list and description. Very good! So looking forward to the shows down the line.

Re: Singapore

Thanks pnh2atl! It is wonderful to read show reviews again and NOTHING "that is all" about it. lol Smart move to add some of the acoustic show, esp. DTTD. When I heard it in Vienna, I thought it was meant to be acoustic. It just "fits". I'm also glad Sloe Gin is plugged in smile  I've seen 3 shows in a row and always felt each one was different than the prior. I'm glad he came back to you and I hope you have another show in your future wink  Cathy

Re: Singapore

Thanks for the report and set list. Brilliant idea starting with acoustic, a 'best of both worlds' scenario! Agree with Cathy on the acoustic DTTD version. cool

Re: Singapore

Thank you pnh2atl - fantastic setlist there imo!

Can't wait for my first Joe show in 17 sleeps

Re: Singapore

He was solo for all the acoustic songs except Dislocated Boy Tal helped out on that one.

Thanks fo the info.
i was also wondering, what is the radio scene like in Singapore?

Honestly I can only tell you about the raid scene in Atlanta.  I was there with work.  I did hear Joe on XM today which was very nice.

At the two shows I saw earlier this year (Omaha and Des Moines), it was very, very different than the album version.  Here's one of the YouTube videos from the spring tour:
