Topic: Dr. Z Amps

I wonder if Joe B. ever reads this forum. If you do Joe, you owe it to yourself to check out Dr. Z's Remedy amp. It will blow your mind how good just one amp with one channel and some pedals can sound.

Re: Dr. Z Amps

I think Joe has mentioned on here before that he HAS tried Dr. Z amps, but they just didn't suit his style.  He emphasised that they were great amps, nothing wrong with them, but they just didn't suit him.

Re: Dr. Z Amps

I was thinking he had a Z wreck but it turns out it was not even a Dr z.  I was thinking of the Van Weelden Twinkleland.

But he has said in the past he looks for Darker sounding amps then Dr. Z offers.

Re: Dr. Z Amps

Dr. Z's are made about 3 towns over from me... and I didn't get to play one until I was in Los Angeles. They are cool amps though. I really like the Z Wreck

Re: Dr. Z Amps

The Remedy is Dr. Z's take on a Marshall plexi, so it does have two channels like a plexi but they are combined internally like a jumper cable would do. It is very easy to dial in your tone, be it bright, dark or in between. It is basically a super lead only with 4 6V6 tubes at 40 watts, or 20 watts at half power. Very versatile killer amp!

I always get Dr Z and Lazy J confused hahaha!!

Re: Dr. Z Amps

I've had my MAX 38 Studio Deluxe for over 10 years now and it's been my #1 the whole time.  Amazing amp.  One channel, but a huge range of tones, all of which are gorgeous.  I'd really love to try a Remedy.

Re: Dr. Z Amps

I have to say I have a Maz18 and it's a fabulous amp. With its myriad of controls, you can pick up the Trinity's sound (Fender / Vox / Marshall).
As many times as I've thought to move on to something else, I find a new tone that blows me away.

And so it stays.

Actually, having said that, I'm considering a Maz8 as it's far more friendly for home use.
