Re: Forum players under 21

frazer...

Just noticed your short jazz vid, and that you hadn't received any feedback.  I'm not an expert, but learned an appreciation of Jazz back in my college days.  Went to school with a very talented guitar major.  (He was the first to ever graduate from DePauw, with that major, and they have a pretty well known music school.)  Also knew a pretty good jazz pianist.

I liked what I heard.  But too short, and hard to hear well, even with my speakers cranked.  I would listen to more, if you had it.

Generally, I have to say it's hard to keep up with all the good stuff the various young players post here.  But I try to catch up, from time to time.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

Thanks for giving me some feedback man, i really appreciate your comments.

Yea the volume issue is one i noticed after i got home from my friends house (where it was recorded) and even with headphones its still not that loud, disappointing for sure.
As for the length, it was really only supposed to be a little video showing that i could play jazz guitar if required, as ill be adding it to a compilation of short clips of me playing different styles for my website, as i aspire to find work as a session guitarist.

Thanks again man

Hello there,

I finally finished the little instrumental piece and played it for a short video, hope you dig it:

feedback highly appreciated!!!!

Wow! Very well done on the Wet Dogs clip!  I especially enjoyed the way you followed the drum roll around the 2:56 mark.  To my beat up ears, the mix could use just a touch more of the bass guitar, otherwise it fits together well.  Nice live dynamics with the drums too.
Good stuff.

Thanks for listening! Well hearing it now I would definetly changed something on the mix too, turn back the drums for example. But thank you for the feedback!

cheers
