Knocked off them fargin doyers again.   Our relief by committee tossed 4 innings of no hit relief. 2 for 3 in Chavez Ravine and life is good in Padre town.

sometimes you need a little divine intervention when not playing well. the Braves beat the Rockies today 1-0, on a throwback from catcher to the pitcher that he slapped at and let get away. It was not a bad throw, but our runner on third came home. Joe Simpson the announcer said he had never seen that in a game before. Like a blind sow picking up an acorn.

Early in the season the Nats were winning loads of games by one run, which is certainly a sphincter-clenching experience for all concerned! Now we're hammering all these really poor teams like the Cubs. I just hope they haven't shot their collective bolts too soon with 12 homers in two days.

I stayed up last night even after we were already 6-0 up because Gio was on a no hitter - when that got blown with the first pitch of the 6th inning, someone tweeted "Enjoy the football", knowing that loads of people would be switching over at that point.

A question about rotation for all you wise guys - is there some unwritten law that says a rotation must be five pitchers? As a result of all the Strasburg speculation and discussion, it's been suggested that the Nats have four pitchers who are good enough, so why not just rotate them in the playoffs. Has this ever been done? Can you get away with 'only' four pitchers in the playoffs?

btw, did anyone notice that Tommy John himself said that he thought Strasburg should continue to play as long as he's in this form and has no physical issues?

Cubs right now have 16 rookies on their roster. Are you "kidding" me?
That's a minor league team.

The Rockies use a different approach. They use a 4 man rotation with a 75 pitch limit. Their starters are matched with a reliever in a "piggy back" system with the reliever required to toss 50 pitches. Their thought process is that 125 pitches should get them deep enough to win by that point or bring in their closer to finish. I wouldn't say they're having a whole lotta success with this so far. Pitching @ Coors Field can take its toll on any staff, but the Rockies have to deal with it 81 times a season.

Opinions on last night's handbags in DC? Is there really some unwritten law that says you shouldn't swing at a 3-0 pitch when you're already winning? I can't believe that some Cubs fans are trying to justify the behavior of their team.

On a more positive Natitude note, the Nats have outscored the opposition 70-27 over the last nine games, LaRoche has hit six homers in six games, the team has hit 14 in the last three games, Harper is on fire, the team is now on .620 and the Fish have to face Strasburg on his penultimate outing tonight. I expect more fireworks.

If I wanted to start a team of youngsters, I'd take Mike Trout over all of them, that article in Sports Illustrated was very good....Harper has a hose,he nailed that slug in the 9th to keep it tied last night, I think he will be a good player, but no HOF in my opinion, time will tell though.....Tiny Tim came through for Giants last night, I can hear the fat lady warming up, poor Dodgers .....and ARoid hit a big bomb for the Yanks, that division will go down to the last game of the season me thinks....LOVE BASEBALL!!
