Re: The DSL returns to 2012

Wow, cool a 15 watt head?! Nice find. Been hoping they (Marshall) would do a small watt head version of a more mainstream amp. I like the Class 5's a lot but 15 watts is much better in terms of use and practicality. 5 watts is great for some things but that little bit extra is nice too. -S

Re: The DSL returns to 2012

I believe Marshall has been pushed out in every term by the new guys like Egnater and the tens of other amp makers.
Not ten years ago..but this is today...and we have such things as Axe Fx II-Ultra deceiving people...
It's a tough place to be if all you can come up with is ideas like this and the super low watt models pretending they are what Marshall once were...
They truly died with the older 800s...SJ and maybe even the very early 900s...
Gibson 2000+ together with Marshall 2000+ are a match made in heaven. roll
You guys are sometimes too nice...

Re: The DSL returns to 2012

Very interested in the 40 watt version. Any idea on release date and price?

Re: The DSL returns to 2012

Should be soon. here is the pricing - very competitive. I believe they will be made in Vietnam for this pricing (not a bad thing for me, just noting).

Re: The DSL returns to 2012

Come on Dave! I see where you're coming from but for me personally, the small amps are nice since I gig on weeknights without the luxury of sleeping in the next morning. 5:30 comes early and I don't want to be reminded of that any more than necessary when I'm dragging a big Marshall and cabinet back out to my car around midnight! At least you've got to agree they are better than those horrid 1 watt toy heads they rolled out earlier this year, selling for a premium...

JBFan1, they are listed on Sweetwater. Not in stock but under and "arriving soon" type status.
EDIT: sorry didn't see above post with link. And the made in Vietnam seems to put me off a little especially since the head is going for 500 bucks.. I only paid 700 for my 100w DSL head..

Re: The DSL returns to 2012

Let's hear them first. Have a lot of nice features. I don't care if they are made in Vietnam or on the moon, if they sound good smile
On the other hand, DSL100 will remain one of my favorite amps (very underrated, if you ask me). The only drawback is, being a real Marshall, you have to crank it, in order to make it sing. And that's LOUD.

Re: The DSL returns to 2012

The 15 makes me interested, was thinking of investing in a Haze 15 but this seems promising.

I think the vintage modern and the JVM were both really nice newer Marshall amps.

The previous model also included the 40 watt combo. It was the DSL 401 and should become a bargain as the new model nears its release date.

In terms of the new model it will be imminent now that it is on the Marshall website as a current product.

Re: The DSL returns to 2012

They're in stores now...I was in PMT in Bristol yesterday and they had the 40W combo...

Guitars: Fender American Original 60s Strat, Fender American Vintage 52 Tele, Gibson Les Paul Traditional
FX: Various including - Ceriatone Centura, Fire Custom Shop Carpe Diem
Amp: Fender ML212 Deville + 212 extention cabinet

Re: The DSL returns to 2012

If you look at Peach Guitars page they are all listed with the prices in the UK. The 15 head looks superb..... big_smile

Re: The DSL returns to 2012

Skip the Haze I played two new ones out of the box and both had issues, one the on board effects didn't work the other the drive channel didn't work.

I was actually meaning the new DSL 15 head, but I have played the Haze and loved the sound.

Re: The DSL returns to 2012

Geeeeez Peter, you still haven't bought an amp?!? If the new DSL sounds like a DSL is supposed to sound, I'd go with it over the Haze. I'm wondering if you can swap out the 6V6 tubes with EL34s on this amp? I have played a Haze before, liked it but wasn't blown away. But then again, I wasn't amp shopping; was testing a guitar. I'm thinking of getting a DSL15h after they come out should they sound good. -S

Shortage of funds at present but should be sorted soon.

Re: The DSL returns to 2012

I have a Haze stack.  No issues, but it is a dark sounding amp - especially at lower volumes.  It wants to roar.

Gibson 60th Anniversary 1959 Les Paul Reissue, Gibson LP Standard Faded CSB, Gibson Gary Moore LP Standard, Epi Joe Bonamassa GT LP, Epi Zakk Wylde LP, Dean Michael Schenker Flying V, Jackson Randy Rhoads V, ESP/LTD George Lynch Kamikaze, EVH Striped Series R/B/W, Fender/Squire John 5 Telecaster, Fender Joe Strummer Relic Telecaster

That is what I liked about the haze when I played it using my own JB Epi . If expensive things hadn't come up I would have one now. Priorities unfortunately.
