Topic: Temps & Tops

Absoulutely basking in the afterglow of last night's show. The soundtrack of my youth. If you have a chance, go!!!!

Re: Temps & Tops

Sounds like a winning combo, love that music!!  A few years ago my cousin got married in Florida, they had an awesome band with a horn section. The father-daughter dance was to this song!! Totally awesome, a different way to apply the lyrics!! My uncle is 10 years older than us and a HUGE Motown fan and a dancin' fool. wink

Like mine as well Stu. Motown dominated the airwaves in Cleveland in my childhood days there, at least until The Beatles invaded.

GREAT One Stu!!

I looked at the touring schedule.  Do you think some shows are just the Temptations and not the Tops? Are the Temptations the headliner?

I see they are coming to the Borgota Music Box in Atlantic City towards the end of Sept. - no mention of the Four Tops. What a fantastic little venue, the shape of the room is fantastic for viewing.  I first saw Kenny Wayne Shepherd there on that blues tour and I will be there the weekend before seeing the Doors or what's left of them.

Re: Temps & Tops

I'm not sure, but I imagine it would be billed as the Temptaions and the Four Tops if they were appearing together.
At this show the Temps opened for the Tops. It could probably go either way...they could both fill a juke box with hits.

My favorite Four Tops song from one of my favorite movies of all-time.  They couldn't have picked a better song for that scene. Pouring one for you Cochise.

Tops and Temps as good as it gets smile

Re: Temps & Tops

Had to dig this post back up to say I am so glad I listened to Stu!! I saw the Temptations and The Four Tops on May 10th from second row seats!! I can't even find enough adjectives to describe the performance of these 2 bands!!

This was a FANTASTIC show beyond description!!! This music makes me feel good, that's all there is to it. We sang and danced and forgot about life for a couple of hours. The music is timeless!! There is only one original member left in each band, but it really didn't matter. One of the Four Tops originals son is now carrying on in his Dad's honor, which is cool.

The bands share a ten piece horn section conducted by Marvin Gaye's former conductor in addition to a guitarist, bass guitarist and keyboardist.

Seeing these guys was on my bucket list for music. GREAT show!! smile

Re: Temps & Tops

I would love to see that show!Sometimes youi just have to hear a great horn section, as it is not all that common anymore.
