Topic: Sound Enhancer

Anybody seen this before?  cool concept but I bet they want an arm and a leg for it.  I'd pay $50 I think...  but I read that a forum said it was selling at NAMM for special pricing $195 and free shipping, and ordering from their website will cost $229 plus shipping. $250??? http://www.soundenhancer.com/

Re: Sound Enhancer

You could have any woodworker just cut a panel and make it a closed back cab for a lot cheaper. That's what will happen to the bassman I get in the future, I think anyway.

Block inlay Gibson ES-335, 50th anniversary American Strat, '61 RI White SG, '62 RI Relic Strat, Replica Korina Flying V, Gold Tone Paul Beard Resonator,  '58 Les Paul RI, American Highway 1 Fender Strat, Breedlove Acoustic, Stonetree Joe Bonamassa Custom, HIWATT Lead 100R, Reeves Custom 30.

Re: Sound Enhancer

That is a pretty cool idea/design though!

Pretty easy to make your own with some ply. Bit bulky to carry about though.

Re: Sound Enhancer

Just make sure your tubes can breath, thats why they left them open backed.

I've also played around with the idea of closing it up and porting the amp.  There is a few websites that help you calculate the way to do this with the exact speaker size, amount of movement, and Fq your speaker has.  Just wasn't keen on modding the cabinate or turning my Blues Jr. into a head with an external speaker.

Re: Sound Enhancer

This basically closes the back of your cabinet and re-route the air flow. There's a lot of extra stuff there on the sides for the sound to go straight down and out hmm I see it being worth around $40... how much do they get for one? Plus, it's extra crap to haul to a gig.

The vertical 2x12 Forte amp I have does the same thing with their "3D" cabinets... Great for my EVM12Ls

Ask me about my handwound Great Lakes Guitar Pickups
Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

Re: Sound Enhancer

If nothing else, it will make it look like you have more amp going on than just a plain combo sitting lonely in the back. Looks neat, maybe just a gimmick who knows. Still, I'm always interested in these types of things for curiosity sake.

Re: Sound Enhancer

No doubt it will make a small amp sound louder, but I don't think its worth what they want for it.  I've thought about buying a Polycarb sheet and copying it.  Then I thought I'd build a ported cab for my amp...  and then I thought why not just mic the thing and be done.
