Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season
Who would have thought the M's, at 24-13 since the All Star break, would have the best record in the AL over that time span? (Hey, we've got to find positives where ever we can :-)

That rain delay killed me again, so I went to bed, especially as there was no stream to watch and I had to rely on Braves radio. I understand that Strasburg's pitching was pretty awesome! I now expect a sweep as the Nats go from strength to strength!
A great day for my AL interest too, with the O's winning while the Yankees and Rays both lost. Nice to see Jdawg's Gigantes back on top too.
After being swept by the Royals, the White Sox look to get the broom put for the Yankees. 2 down, 1 to go!
Lightning strikes both sides of the bay. BALCO again? A's Colon out 50 for drug cheating. Who's next?
Personally, I think a year and no post season or awards in the comeback year, then a lifetime ban if caught again.

This came as no surprise after ESPN spoke with Victor Conte on Between The Lines this week. They spoke about Melky, but Conte said he estimates that 50% of the league has been using testosterone since it's pretty easy to mask if you have half a brain and don't get to greedy with it. Don't be surprised if more players get popped before the year's up. This substance like others helps in many ways to improve a players ability, but there's no drug that helps anybody put the bat on the ball, that's a God given talent.
Viva Gigantes!!!

good to get one at the Nats, Kris Medlen threw a brilliant game. now it's off to SF and we don't get a day off. It will be a late one for me, 9:00 start. Oh well, we have a lousy NFL game prior. This is a really tough stretch for ATL, sink or swim time.

Ya can't win 'em all.
I only had radio and went to bed when it was 2-0, but it certainly sounded like your pitcher had the measure of our batters last night. We've got a day off and then get to play the Phillies.

rats, you got the first one. Braves are just not playing well anywhere right now. In case it hasn't been noted before, we really appreciate all of the teams that are honoring Chipper Jones in his last tour. SF took time last night to pay tribute, but don't know what they presented him with. There have been some strange gifts, like a bottle of wine and the Astros gave him a cowboy hat and maybe some boots.

Big high five to you and your Gigantes, Jdawg! A great result for us on our off day!
Our opponents tonight, the Phillies, also did us a favor by taking one off the Reds last night. I've got a good feeling about this Nats season!

It looks like a lock for post season George, that is when the big reset makes all a level field again. Enjoy the ride!

I don't think the Giants gave him anything other than a video tribute with highlights of his career on the big screen before the game. I was just in the truck listening to Sportstalk Radio and the same question arose. One of the hosts thought maybe a chowder bowl, one of the unique offerings at AT&T Park, clam chowder served in a sourdough bread bowl a very popular treat on those not so balmy nights by the Bay. About last nights game, after Affelt gave up the 2 earned runs Zito was credited with Bochy pulled him for Romo. During Romo's warmups Zito got off the bench and walked behind Affelt who was hangin' his head by the dugout rail, MAN! if looks could kill Affelt would be a goner! We have a closer by committee and Brian Wilson can't mend fast enough!!!

he got a what JDawg? a bread boule with the top cut off to form a bowl? I guess they would have given him a nice ceramic one if anything, another strange gift if true. Just my personal opinion, but Zito needs to come down off his high horse and remember his struggles last year. You pat the guy on the back and say hey let it go, don't worry about it.

The chowder bowl was just a joke on the radio, didn't actually happen. They are damn tasty though. Zito was pissed at himself when he got lifted before Affelt threw a pitch, but you would hope all was forgiven once Romo got the final out. Waitin' on tonights game. Now that Sundays game got pushed back to 5PM there's a chance of an Uggla sighting in Benicia Sat. night.

Got Melk? Who needs it when you have an Angel in the outfield....and @ the plate! Gotta thank the media talking heads that wrote the Giants off when Cabrera was suspended, all it did was inspire everybody to step it up.

It looks like the FD up the way have opened the floodgates with the payroll. Look out JDawg, they are going to make a run at ya. Fire sale in Boston and some real good players are heading west according to all reports.

BRING IT!!!!!! You can't buy it. If these guys were awesome the Red Sox would be too. There's two ways of lookin' at these desperate manuevers. So does this move mean Hanley Ramirez, Shane Victorino, and Joe Blanton weren't the answer??? Didn't faze the Giants, they went into Chavez Ravine and swept LA.

The Oakland A's got a rare Sunday day off which couldn't have happened at a more oppurtune time with hurricane Isaac bearing down on Fla. where those Swingin' A's just wrapped a 3 game series with the Rays.

Congratulations to Rob Brantly on his first major league home run today as the Marlins beat the Dodgers in LA. 2 run shot in the 5th. Way to go Rob!
