Re: FYI fleabay sale: JBLP Aged #78
Look at the LPF thread of the Historic Makeover DonR from Cat 5 did on his JBLP. It is truly a work of art. I'm happy with mine as is…

Hi
Kim at historic makeovers has one of my JB gold tops that he is doing the complete setup. What I am interested in is the reseating of the neck for better sound transmission and the addition of the heavy truss rod. I have been told by VERY reliable sources that this makeover is to die for. I hope to have it back mid Nov before i see joe in Springfield.
Cheers Ron

I have actually been contemplating sending my Goldtop Traditional to Kim for a make over...Just can't figure out if I should sell the guitar and take that with the money I would spend on the make over and buy say either a Kussoff or a Sandy...OR send in the Traditional and change it from a goldtop to a plain burst like Magellan and send them a set of JB pickups to but them in....I am sure that the top is a plain top under the gold finish.

Hi Barry
well I will try to give you my two cents. it goes without saying what may be great for me may not for you.
So it appears you are stressing between sending your traditional to Kim or purchasing a Kussoff or Sandy. Like I said here is my two cents. I am very fortunate to have a Sandy and a Kussoff. I truly can not tell you which one I like the best because whenever I play them one after the other i am in total awe of their tone. As another piece of info I use Curt Mangan 11-52 pure nickel strings which in their own right add wonderful color to any guitar. In order to keep this short, because I can continue to ramble on, knowing what I know and I where you if I was deciding if I should send my traditional to HM or buy a Sandy or a Kussoff I would buy a Sandy first. That does not mean i would sell my Kussoff because I love that to. But it is my opion that once you have a Sandy you will have something to judge other guitars from. As far as sending a LP to HM if you can do that also go for it. I can't wait to get my JB aged gold top back from Kim. The resetting of the neck and the improved truss rod is going to add killer tone. He is also installing a set of the best PAF clone pickups. He said the pickups he puts in are as close to real PAF there is. Anyway I am not sure if this helps. Good luck on your guitar buying. Let me know how you make out.

Yep, that's definitely a consideration. I should've bought the unaged one that popped up on TGP a few months ago. I emailed the owner but Ron was too quick for me.
