Topic: Reissue Les Paul 1959 from 2012 or 2008 or 1993 ???

Hi ,

The new Gibson Les Paul Standar 2012 has many new " Standard "compare to the same Guitar

From 2008 ,

my question is if

The Gibson Les Paul Standard reissue 1959 , it's différent if she's built in 2012 or 2008 , 2001 ,

1997 or any year ???

Maybe the Wood is différent and .....!!

The Standard is a different guitar from the Custom Shop models (R9 would designate a '59 reissue). Gibson makes small changes to get them closer to vintage spec every year or so. If you can find an R9 from 2009 or later it will be closer to a 1959 in terms of small details such as knob placement, headstock shape, nut material, etc. More importantly, you should play different guitars and pick the one that speaks to you, irrespective of the year made. There are some great reissues from all years since 1998. Having said that, the last three years or so have seen a lot of great Les Pauls. Check out Mark's Guitar Loft for an idea of what is available. He sells some of the higher-quality used LPs.

Also the 90's model les paul standard is more like the Les Paul Traditional today.  That guitar was built for guys looking for a traditional les paul standard without the extra's.
