It's not that much harder than a tone.... You told me before that they are impossible.... But now you say we all can?

No issues man, just confused.

I dunno..it's just my opinion..I can do them but especially on the B and E they are a huge struggle and often would cause a string breakage...

Sorry about the confusion..didn't mean it to sound bad smile

And Seth lol made me smile

It's all good man!! smile

As for bending a 4 notes up, I can do 2 no prob.  But it seriously takes me giving it all I got to bend any more then that to the point of testing my man hood.  Not saying it can't be done but I'm just saying it might be easier on the finger tips to just move up a couple frets and then bend. wink

I just like the sound of the big bends!! wink

Re: Classic Player 60's Strat

I can do a 3 fret bend on the top E and B strings....but I can't sustain it for any length of time....well, not on a Strat or Tele...ask me again when I've got my Les Paul and I might find it easier on there...

...then again I use 11's on all my electrics, so that makes it harder right there...

I'm sure it can be done, but I don't fancy trying it...

sorry to disturb the technical debate on bending....

The Classic Player range is extremely good, - nearly got one for my son a while back but in the end he went for a LP copy. They are reportedly spec'ed up by the custom shop and then built in Mexico, he like the feel and play of the 50's one, - I think the surf green colour also had something to do with it! smile

Re: Classic Player 60's Strat

They do the Cp50's in Surf Green now?? Hadn't noticed that, but good to see they've moved past only offering it in 2TSB and Shoreline Gold.

I came very, VERY close to getting a CP60's earlier this year, but elected to buy the parts and build my own Strat instead...will still probably end up buying a CP60's as well at some point in the future!!

You're right, they were spec'd up by specific Custom Shop Masterbuilders who also oversaw the QC at the factory in Mexico. The only question mark I have is whether the pickups are real CS ones, or Mexican versions of the CS69's etc...but bottom line they sound as good so does it really matter? Nope.

Re: Classic Player 60's Strat

I might be getting my wires crossed, - tis is the guitar that I was refereeing to:

http://www.andertons.co.uk/solid-body-e … e-neck.asp

- it was a couple of years ago when we looked at it,but they do not list it as discontinued. Although it does only call it a "classic" but I am pretty sure that it was once known as the "Classic Player".... Problem with Fender is that they do so many models, and in truth when we were looking it confused the hell out of us and actually contributed to my son looking elsewhere, - now he just wants an Clapton or Eric Johnson signature Strat!!!!!

Re: Classic Player 60's Strat

Ah...yeah, that's the Classic 50's Strat which is the Mexican equivalent to the American Vintage 57 Strat.

I look at it this way, the Classic Player guitars are to the Classic guitars what the Vintage Hot Rod guitars are to the Vintage Reissue guitars...in both cases the Classic Player and Vintage Hot Rod guitars take the vintage style guitar but add extra playability and upgraded pickups.

OK that's interesting...the main issue with the road worn for me was playability...so the CP sounds good to me!

Re: Classic Player 60's Strat

If you liked the Road Worn aside from the playability thing, you might also want to see if you can find a Road Worn Player Series Strat as they have flatter radius fretboards....

Haha! Can't blame him for having good taste! wink

My particular (maple board) EJ Strat is the finest current production Strat that I've had a chance to play--all the classic Strat-y, chime, quack, and goodness in spades!

...not the cheapest option, though. smile

Re: Classic Player 60's Strat

I'd kill for a EJ model with a rosewood finger board!  Those guitars look boss!

It's interesting how polarized folks are over the fretboard binding... You either love it or hate it. I'm not a fan... I'd own a Rosewood EJ if not for the binding. I was actually thinking about that the other day. LOL!

Re: Classic Player 60's Strat

Its just something different I guess.  I can't tell you how many Maple 1 pc neck guitars I've had and Rosewood as well.  I'd love any EJ strat but how many sunbursts have I owned in the last 10 years and traded?  Well 3 and still have one of them, its my AD3 signature model.  But with the staggered tuners no string tree and the binding its a really slick guitar and custom colors if I'm not mistaken.  I'm just saying thats why I'm interested in them, but I'm also interested in Charvels right now so who knows what I'll be into tomorrow.  I'm playing in a country band now and I thought Telecasters and strats would be best bet... Turns out my Gibson SG with a **## load of distortion and buzzing strings from detuning is what I gotta do.  So the EJ might be a bad choice for me.
