Topic: Talk Boxes

Hello

It's my birthday coming up in a month and my dad wants to buy me a talkbox for my guitar. But I'm not terribly keen to be honest.

Does anyone have a talkbox for their guitar, and if so, how much use do you get out of it?

It's one of those things that is cool but would be used so infrequently that it not worth having IMO.

I have one of the original Golden Throats, just never use it. I used to but it barely sees daylight now. When I do use it I A/B a second amp for it, or just set u p a seperate amp for when used.

I'd love a talk box....I'd use it on Living On A Prayer and It's My Life....except I'd only have one or the other in the set list...so that's one song a night....

....plus as I understand it the decent units require you to run it through a microphone or second amp....

...even if I also learnt Show Me The Way I don't think it would be worth the fuss...and I can get close enough of the 2 Jovi songs using a Wah Pedal....

I have to agree with all the other statements, its a cool effect but you would have to start throwing in Peter Frampton songs, Joe Walsh rocky mountian way, Aerosmith sweet emotion, or maybe that song Mind Bender by clear water or some unknown band like that just to justify bringing it out.  Its one of those effects that if you need it you gotta have it, but if you don't have it you should avoid the song completely.  tongue  I think a wah would work for most of that stuff.  This effect would be more portable http://www.musiciansfriend.com/amplifie … ects-pedal
