Sorry the men didn't win George. Quite a hullabaloo here in Tijuana Norte when Mexico beat Brazil in footie. I would hate to be the Brazil coach upon return.

Great Closing Ceremony last night(overall), to finish off a spectacular Games - we  can be proud of.
Well done to Team GB for coming in third in the medal table!  Definitely punched well above our weight.

- Highlights for me - Mo Farah,  winning both the 10,000m - 5,000m gold for Team GB - absolutely fantastic !

In total agreement with you. Only caught the closing ceremonials from Russel Brand's I Am The Walrus. What I saw was very well staged, without being too slick; not all my personal taste but at least no hoola-hoops. Thought Muse's sound was a bit off though. However, hats off to the two great sing-a-longs, Eric Idle's Bright Side of  Life and Freddie Mercury: not sure about Jessie J singing with Queen... For the finale - The Who....inspired!!!

Only thing about Seb Coe - I keep imagining Steve Ovett coming up on his shoulder....

What a show!  I enjoyed almost every minute of it but particularly the high kicking Romans during Eric Idle's spot!  Very Pythonesque and wonderfully entertaining.

Panic moment of the night ... was in the kitchen when I heard an acoustic guitar starting to play some very familiar and favourite notes.  Thinking it was Gilmour, I rushed into the lounge, badly stubbed a toe, swore a bit and then swore some more at the telly as I saw it wasn't the great god Gilmour, but Ed Sheerin.  He did a good job though.

It's all a bit sad now that it's over and guess what - it's started raining again.

Never mind, the Paralympics start in two weeks time so let's start spreading the joy again.

Re: London 2012 Olympics & Paralympics

I'm glad it's over, very happy for USA but also for GB as well. "well done" doesn't begin to describe the overall performance of Great Britain, a huge coup by the home team. It was stated on the net today that this was their best performance in over 100 years. There's no place like home. Salute!

I watched more of these Olympics than I have in years.  Congrats to GB for a great job all the way around.  Now if we could only get something done about NBC's awful coverage....

Re: London 2012 Olympics & Paralympics

Closing ceremony:

I think that The Who (Daltry and Townsend) were the only band playing live, - the rest were singing live over pre recorded tracks. Can't blame the organisers for that as it would have been virtually impossible to get the sound right with all of those changes.

The negative:

George Michael, - 1 song was enough why did they let him sing his new single, - a song that nobody knew?

Why did the taxi driver fail at getting Posh (she is anything but) off of the top of that cab when he pulled away, - Pete you should have applied for the job!

"Wonderwall" is Noel's song not Liam's, - High Flying Birds should have played rather than Beady Eye....

No reference to British Blues rock, - the fact that Brit bands came over to the USA and took the blues and then sold it back to the world changed the route that music took.

- Just because the Sex Pistols refused the filthy lucre to appear live did not mean that Punk should have been left out... it was another amazing change of musical direction that still today influences the music world.

Heavy Metal....? This stage was set up for Iron Maiden coming from within spitting distance of the Olympic Park..

In saying that it was brilliant as a show, - I did like the diversity of it and can excuse the need to pander to a varied audience...But one song from Jessie J would have sufficed... Loved the way they got Freddie in there, - was quite a touching moment knowing how he would have so loved to have been there. - Gary Barlow struggling to hit the right notes at the start of "Rule The World" was also quite emotional and perfectly understandable given what he went through last week loosing his baby daughter at birth, - fair play to the guy for doing that.
