Topic: Marshall Class 5 Master Volume mod

Has anyone modded a class 5 with a master volume?  I LOVE the sound from it, but would love to have a master volume to be able to turn the gain down and get the cleaner sounds at a higher volume. Anyone have any advice??

You can run it with power scaling (OPR).

Could you use a tube that has a later breakup distortion?  http://thetubestore.com/gainfactor.html this has a chart that you can see the gain percentages.  You have a 12AX7 now so you might consider buying a 5751 tube or a 12AT7 that has less gain on tap so you can turn up a little louder before it starts to break up.

Send it to RAT amps, they can do loads to the class 5 and others.
