Thank God it's MLB baseball season and for an added alternative the NFL gets under way Sun. evening. I know it's only pre-season, but it beats the hell out of this mish-mash of tape delayed Olympic coverage here on the Left Coast.

I have watched more of it than intended to, especially the boxing and basketball. gymnastics was fun last night, USA did well in the team comp but I didn't get a final score. Watching this couple while their daughter (USA) was on the uneven bars was priceless, still laughing.

looks like GB got screwed out of a silver in men's team gymnastics, can't wait to hear that detailed explanation. There have been some judging problems here and there, had another occur in women's fencing. Don't ask me what I was thinking watching that. helmets with computer sensor chips. roll

HOWEVER, congrats to GB on the bronze as USA crumbles on the pommel to finish 5th. I believe another pint is in order blokeys.

This Olympics aptly brings to mind the words of the late, aforementioned, Jim McKay "The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat." I feel the joy and the pain. Such is the nature of sports. I am happy with the variety of sports I'm seeing and the fact that I can change back and forth to avoid the incessant commercials.
Thanks for the info regarding the torch although heat rises and there's no way folks don't feel it in the stands. It's also a shame it's not out where it can be seen by the masses. I was happy to hear that they have released more tix to the general public. It's sad to see so many empty seats at events.
Three weeks of the Tour de France, two weeks of the Olympics...I'm going to have some kind of sports withdrawl when this is over. smile       Cathy

p.s.  I think the Brits got robbed!!!!

Last night's bronze medal in the team gymnastics was a fantastic result for Team GB and our first in this discipline for 100 years.  Well done guys but it should have been the silver.  Wonder what made the judges change their minds on the Japanese score?  Looking forward to the individuals where we've got a great chance for gold in the pommel horse with Lewis Smith.

Disappointment for our synchronised divers but there was no way they were ever going to beat the (unbeatable) Chinese pair.  Hopefully young Tom Daley can get over the disappointment and go for gold in the individual event.

There's so much to watch and enjoy.

Yes Tres .... It was the highlight of the games so far, US Womens Gymnastic Team were Flawless especially on the floor exercise, Tumbling and nailing it, like i've never seen, they were so far ahead of the field, lots of tears with unreal performances.

GB finished a very respectable 6th in the most talented competition so far

Individual should be really competitive

The US women's gymnastic team is so deep the reigning world all-around champion did not qualify for the individual all-around competition since only 2 from each country are allowed due to some strange rule. If she were allowed in it was conceivable they would triple medal the all-arounds.

a brilliant game, well deserved win for GBR, - goal in the first or second minute, - you could see that Brasil were flustered from the start, the GBR number 12 (Kim Little I think) dominated the game, - every time she picked up the ball something good happened.

70,584 in attendance, - but again great blocks of corporate seats left empty sad and these are good seats that are being left empty.

A real family atmosphere, - wonderful to see so many British Asian families at the game which you just do not get at professional/England/Club games, - so take notice English FA you still have a problem engaging the population representative of our mix as a nation!

The wait is over! We have a GOLD  Britain are off the mark for 2012, and we have seen a bit more history too because Heather Stanning and Helen Glover are Britain's first women rowers to win gold.
