Topic: New run of the JBLP Gold Tops?

I just saw this Facebook post from Joe:

"Really great JBLP standard model just came from Gibson USA to Casamassa this afternoon...!! Thanks guys it plays and looks great.... All knobs on the 1979 Jim Kelley amp are set to the right until the Ventura County Sheriff shows up!!"

along with a picture of a Les Paul Gold Top... Does this mean that the Gibson Custom Shop are doing another run of the 300 original signature Gold Tops???  Or did Joe receive one of the original 300 that had been refurbished??

Not sure but if they are making more my guess is they may be from Gibson USA which is different then the Custom shop.

If they were to release a Gibson USA JBLP now, that would be absolutely perfect timing for me....please let it be so....

Right!  'exclusive', and worth noting it's all Gibson's doing, Not Joe's.

Re: New run of the JBLP Gold Tops?

From the sound of it, it seems like it'll be a Les Paul Standard with mismatching knobs, BB pickups, '59 neck, and Joe's sig on the truss rod cover. Maybe gold, maybe burst.

Re: New run of the JBLP Gold Tops?

JB signature guitars are a money maker for Gibson. The Studios and Epiphones are in their second or third runs. So why not bring out a Gibson USA Standard model? I just hope that they use rosewood on the fretboard...

I'm still waiting for a JB signature Korina Explorer... Gibson are you listening???

Joe posted a picture. It was of a goldtop.

Re: New run of the JBLP Gold Tops?

I've said and posted before that Gibson should do some type of Joe specced out version Les Paul which IS a regular Standard model, available in a few colors with Black Backs, Burstbuckers, ABR Bridge and Nylon Saddles, mismatched knobs with pointer washers. And yeah maybe a signature truss rod plate. ..Basically, what everyone has already done or tried to do with their Les Paul already.. -Seth

EDIT: I just looked at the picture. Would be cool if they do release this as a production model, but I really hope they make it with all the "specialties" that make the JBLP a JBLP. The one pictured looked to have  regular Nashville bridge.

Re: New run of the JBLP Gold Tops?

Actually, it would have to be based on a Traditional rather than the new Standard for me to be interested....

...but fingers crossed.

Hopefully Joe will chime in.

Re: New run of the JBLP Gold Tops?

I think it is largely based on the CS and studio version of the guitar.  I think the only difference is Gibson usa is building it not CS and the Binding on the guitar, I'm sure it has nicer features then a Studio.

Re: New run of the JBLP Gold Tops?

It was mentioned it is a Standard model, not a Studio. So now Joe will have all three levels of les paul: epi, studio, standard, and custom shop. Has anyone else ever done that?

I was personally hoping for a JBLP 1959 Standard Reissue in sunburst. cool

Re: New run of the JBLP Gold Tops?

Ok so now we can get a L/P STANDARD J.B. Goldtop..what is the MSRP price on this one...???
When will they be out ? ??
Wildwood only, Guitar center only,Exclusive  etc etc etc.....???

And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually.........
