Re: Goodnight Vienna-Acoustic Opera House Review

Back in my time zone, and fairly oriented. lol I want to add a few more comments before the thread fades to the back pages.

Vienna was HOT!! Very grand, and very old, but HOT. G and I stayed with friends and a/c is not the norm, so I slept with frozen bottles of ice. I know, what a brat. This also reduced any desire to walk around the city. Luckily the car had a/c and George was born and raised in Vienna, so I had a nice, wheeled tour.
It was a joy to meet old and new Bonabuddies before the show for lunch. G's cousin provided great food, and the clouds made the courtyard comfy. Everybody was very excited for the show.
The Opera House is beautiful. What you can't see in the pictures is the way the boxes go straight up to the ceiling. No tiers. The sound board was in the back and KS was spotted early. Cameras were on trolleys up and down the aisles, as well as peeking out from behind the band.
I wondered if I would be jonesing for an amp, but that was not the case smile Joe picked stellar musicians to fill in the sound, and his voice rose to the occasion. I will even go so far as to say I liked DTTD better acoustically. I didn't find myself waiting for a solo like I do with the plugged in version.  The songs flowed and Joe seemed pleased. It was over too quickly, as is the case with every Joe show. I'm thrilled this was recorded, and I know it will be a huge success. Until then, thanks to Pete for his time and efforts to share the songs. What a night!!!    Cathy
