Topic: What are the best speakers for me? (on a 16 year old's budget)

Hey guys, I'm currently trying to decide what speakers to put in my new 4x12; which will have my Ceriatone 2555 and my Peavey Windsor running through it...

From the only EV supplier in town the EVM 12-L's are $462(AUD) a pop!! And from what I've read the Eminence Delta Pro 12-a are a bit harsh in the top end in comparison to the 12-L.... Absolutely in a head spin over what speakers to put in my new box!!

All the best from Aus,

- Stefan

Best speakers for a 16 year old on a budget? Free ones.. wink

Honestly, I bet it would sound fine with just run of the mill celestion 75s that come in most of the production run Marshall cabs. Sometimes you can find them pretty easily used. Don't know if you can find a beat up Marshall 4x12 on the cheap or if you already have an empty cab. If you pretty much blew your wad on the head, obviously you're gonna have to settle in the speaker department. But I wouldn't get too worked up over it, any decent speaker will work just fine for now.

I am really happy with my eminence governor speaker.  Its fairly cheap and 75 watts at 8 ohms.  I would imagin that Anything higher then 50 watts a speaker will sound good.  They aren't EV crystal clear but their not $400 a speaker either.

Thanks for the advice guys... a set of 4 Eminence Delta Pro 12-a's will set me back $940(AUD) and a set of 4 EV's will set me back $1,848(AUD).... Still undecided... whether I should go for G12t-75's or the Eminence speakers....

Mate, you dont need EV's, they are ultra high spec pro performance speakers. I swear by Celestion G12 K100's, they have never sounded bad with any amp I've owned and get gigged in my Matamp 2x12 regularly, have a look at the link below for the various differences in speakers, its quite an eye opener.
