When I was a wee lad in the North Midlands back in the late 60s Greebo was the term applied to rockers with long unwashed hair. I assume some journalist had a similar background to me and applied it to some sub-genre he wanted to claim the credit for.

Yeah there are some Metal Bands I really like:

More Modern Ones: Between The Buried And Me, Dillinger Escape Plan
and more proggy ones: Dream Theater, Pain of Salvation, Opeth

It´s the more commercial ones like Metallica or Megadeth I can´t really listen to without getting bored after 10 seconds

Not a Megadeth or Metallica fan?! Usually people like either one or the other! Megadeth was always my favorite metal group. Mainly because they could play the crap out of their instruments and outplay the band they were constantly being compared to: Metallica.

Agreed, but I could never get past the vocals. Or most of the lyrics, for that matter (not intended to be argumentative - just me and my tastes).

I actually like both. With Metallica being one of my top Metal Bands of all-time.

For me Megadeth and Metallica have 2 different sounds.  And actually I think the names of the bands kind of describe more their own styles. 

Hetfield played the crap out of his voice so much that he destoyed it.  Comes with the territory.  And Kirk doesn't get as much credit as he should. Megadeth doesn't outplay this band.

With "The Black Album" being one of the best albums of all-time for me.  And not just in the Metal genre, but in all genres.  Songs and song arrangements are just killer.

They make some of the best songs ever.  This being one.  Only one way to listen to this, LOUD!

Well I like some Metallica Songs. But I was always put off by Megadeth because Dave Mustaine is IMO one of the most unsympathetic persons in the Metal/Rock business. But well, there are some Metallica members who come in a close second;-)

A lot of people don't seem to care for Mustaine. I always liked him, love his lyrics and his guitar playing is insanely good. I do like Metallica but never was a big fan. And sorry RiverCat^-^, I never liked Kirk..lol. For me the quintessential Megadeth lineup was the Marty Friedman years, and the (Jackson KingV and Kelly guitars). Not a fan of them as much now with current lead guitarist, just can't get into his playing.

The most recent Guitar Center Megadeth sessions? I've seen something before with him, I think it was a GC production, where he was in a chair in front of a crowd and and interviewer, plus guitar and amp. I'll look into it though. -S

p.s. I even have a tattoo of the music bars and words to a Megadeth song on my arm! Maybe its from his black arts days?!

It was more than just delving into the black arts.  He had different problems also.  I heard he is doing better now and I hope that is true.
