Topic: Robben Ford

Robben has a new CD coming out late August, already out in Europe called Truth.  Anyone have it yet?  Also, does anyone have the CD Robben did with Larry Carlton?

I read Robben's current tour is ending in New Jersey, we're thrilled, but no date yet.  There's something up with Robben's mailing list, when you sign up, you get a message Forbidden!  If anyone finds out when he's headed to NJ, let me know.  Thanks!

Re: Robben Ford

Angela, The CD comes out the 7th. I preordered it when I ordered Sloe Gin. I heard there may be additional dates added this fall. the last time he toured solo across the US was in 2004 when he released Keep on Running.
Still he doesn't tour much.

Re: Robben Ford

I don't remember if it was the Paul Jones show or the Bob Harris show, but after they played "Ball Peen Hammer" by Joe, they played "Moonchild Blues" by Robben.  Sounds pretty tasty to me, so I'll have to check out the new one.  I wasn't nuts about "Keep on Running," but I'm hoping this one is back up to standard.  I think there's a song with a duet by Susan Tedeschi on it too.  Worth a listen anyway, and he's always entertaining live as I've seen him 3 or 4 times, including the Indigenous Jam in 2003 in Omaha where I got introduced to Joe.

Robben toured this year albeit a rather short and sweet schedule. I caught him Feb. 19th @ the Big Room @ the Sierra Nevada Brewery in Chico, Ca. I treated myself to that one for my b-day the day before. It was his brother Pat's b-day on that night and he was playin' drums that night. It was a killer show with Pat and Robben's favorite sideman Volker Strifler playin' too. I think Rockin' Ron caught them a couple nights later up the coast in Oregon.

Dude give Lifetime Thing a good loud listen and tell me you don't understand why Joe credits Robben as one of his influences.

Sitting on a place with fast internet I could finally see it. Excellent music. Doesn´t look like you can get it on a CD, at least up to now.

Re: Robben Ford

Robben alert for San Francisco March 8 & 9 @ The Independent. Saw Back Door Slam there last March, good sound, but no seating sort of a scaled down Fillmore type club. No doubt Robben will nail it at this venue since they keep the tapers and photogs at bay, a sure fire way to piss this particular artist off.

Got an update from the Independent today, the two Robben Ford shows are on April 8 & 9, not March.
