If you're not familiar with them, we're talking ROOTS of the blues - literally made from a cigar box, when them fancy store bought gee-tars was too derned 'spensive for plain folk! smile

Seriously, I'm not familiar with any commercial artist using one - but they can even be bought pre-made.

You need to introduce yourself to Seasick Steve, he plays with shoe box, home made, hub cap guitars with any number of strings. His music s great old style blues, another American famous over here but noeone I meet in The States has heard of him. Try this taste wettener

J.P Soars from Florida makes these and sells them on line. My roomie has one in a coffin case : J.P. won the IBC's a few years back. Another "must see live" player.

A William's cigar box guitar is about a $500 piece. I can't remember the name of the builder, but he is ace.

Hey Guys,

Speaking of Cigar Box Guitars, here is my new one which is a replica of one of Aaron Williams' guitars. Trust me, this not only roars like a Lion when a slide is applied to it, but it is a wonderful work of Art! My good friend and fabulous guitar luthier, Bruce Lee Rose, built not only mine, but also built two of Aaron's CBGs. In addition, I recently spoke with Mojo Perry and he told me he owns 8 or 9 of Bruce's custom made CGBs. cool Bruce lives with his wonderful wife MaryAnn in Neenah, Wisconsin. P.S. The picture was taken at the huge Madison Art Fair which is held every year on the square around our State capital building in Madison, Wisconsin. Bruce and MaryAnn had their booth there on a street just off the square. Next year plan a trip and you'll be blown away by how big this fair is! Also note...I am wearing Joe's "BONAMONSTER" T-shirt and received quite a few compliments on it! wink
