Topic: Joe Bonamassa Mini Rig Demo

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mepGZSmjF40

Hey guys, I've just a Joe style inexpensive mini-rig demo..... Hope you guys enjoy it!! Something like a class 5 or blues junior would work better than the AVT-50!

All the best from Aus,

- Stefan

Re: Joe Bonamassa Mini Rig Demo

Cool video Stefan! I really like the blended tone how it had a lot of body with the crunch sound but still had sparkle. What were your settings for the DSL401 and what channel did you use? I don't know how much you've used the DSL's fx loop but I find it horrible with delay stompboxes etc. I think it's supposed to be just for rack fx or something.

Cheers, Alex.

Sounds good, what do you think of the dsl toying with one myself.

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

Thanks Alex!! I used the third channel and the settings were: the gain 3/4, the bass on 10, mids on 5, treble on 4, with the master volume on full and the channel volume to match the AVT... I had my guitars volume on 8 and tone on 7!

All the best from across Nelson road,

My technique is really sloppy man... Have to work harder at it!

Re: Joe Bonamassa Mini Rig Demo

two amps? was one clean and the other dirty?

Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

Yep, one was set half clean with lots of mids (like a mid boosted superbass) and the other was set with plently of distortion and bass (ala Jubilee)

Re: Joe Bonamassa Mini Rig Demo

Nice and smooth, they're a good match. In recent years even before getting into the 'official' JB amp pairing method, I was digging the whole "wet/dry" amp thing but didn't know much about it other than the obvious. I don't do it exactly the way he does it either, in fact I run a more bottom heavy, muffled amp with the delay. On its own, it doesn't sound good at all. My other amp gets the reverb and is cleaner, set with the mids and a bit of top end. On its own, that amp sounds great. The result is a smooth tone, with a warm bottom end.

Yep - sounded better than I thought it would to be fair - not a great fan of valvestate gear.  Playing is great Stefan - I checked out your cover of Rocky Mountain Way - one of my fave tracks - and you did a great job on that.  Your solo is particularly impressive.
