Topic: Sad Task Tomorrow

I'm heading toward Yosemite early in the morning for a memorial service for a good friend who recently lost his 12 year battle with cancer. I knew Peter Barsotti through Eddie Money years ago, but re-connected in the past 10 years playing in charity golf tournaments Peter organized to raise money for the school district his kids attended & now his grand kids attend in Groveland, Ca. which included 2 nights of music each year headed up by Eddie and whatever VH-1 all-stars he could drag along. I began a business relationship with him doing construction projects on various properties he owned. When I was diagnosed with cancer 5 years ago Peter opened up to me that he had been battling the disease already for 6+years and became my "rock" of confidence, coaching me on how to face it head on and fight the good fight. Needless to say I was gutted a few weeks ago to hear the news. So tomorrow a whole bunch of friends and family will celebrate a life of a dear friend. Here's a link to a little info about one amazingly fun life.

Re: Sad Task Tomorrow

My condolences too J Dawg. I wish all involved all the strenght they need. Take care. I know what you're talking about: lost my parents and sister due to cancer and they were all much too young. Sad, very sad.

Re: Sad Task Tomorrow

J Dawg,
I'm so sorry to hear this. I'm fighting back a few tears because it brings back memories of my friend Mark, who lost his battle with cancer a few years ago. It sounds like you two had a pretty special bond. My sincere and deepest sympathy.
He may be gone from this earth, but he will always be with you.
Wishing you some level of peace during the tough days ahead.

Yosemite a great place for a memorial.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

Losing to cancer really sucks.  To witness family and friends struggle and suffer it....hurts and strikes deep.  Deep concerns, condolences, and thoughts for you JDawg.  I continue to grow my hair to promote cancer awareness (and hope for a cure one of these damnable days).  Sad time for sure, but reflect on good times...they come back with just a pause to recall them.  Take it all in, breath deep, and...the care of friends helps us carry on, friend. smile

Re: Sad Task Tomorrow

Thanks for the kind words. It was an emotionally charged day remembering a Father, Grandfather, Husband, Businessman, and all around Task Master. No matter what type of project Peter would envision he always found a way to accomplish it.

Thanks Angela, to compound the sadness Peter's brother Bob, who was quoted in the news article suffered a heart attack and underwent a triple bypass Thur. and missed the scattering of ashes and the memorial. You may remember a story I shared with you about Bob and a mega band a few years ago Thank God he survived his surgery.

Well almost Yosemite. The Memorial was in Groveland, where Peters family business, The Iron Door Saloon is. It's about 1/2 hr. to the north gate of the park and a launch point for lots of tourists on their way in.
