I think you'd get more use from this than a firebird and its probably easier to play too. -S

..Personally, I'd go with a firebird because I've always loved and wanted one.

For those who aren't sure what we're talking about, here's a pic of the Dark Lord:

While it makes me a little sad not to see the 25th Anniversary model in the rotation anymore, I have to admit that Joe totally rocks on the Dark Lord...   wink

I need another guitar like a need a hole in the head... and I have *three* en route RIGHT NOW - but I'm such a huge Morse/Bonamassa fan that I'm sorely tempted...

Mmm...not too shabby - a kind of LP / Strat / Tele mixed up child - but I wish they'd not used that tail-piece...it's horrible.

Re: EBMM "Dark Lord" now a production model

The darklord guitar was designed by my former tech Dave Pate and myself..  It was initially built for the series of shows with Black Country Communion in the winter of 2010.  It has been in my solo band stable since 2011.  Its important to remember it is still a Steve Morse model..  The lovely cats at EB/MM asked if they could build a few..  I was like as long as Steve is cool with it...  It would be like him putting a different neck on one of my JB Les Pauls..  LOL... Steve is not only one of my guitar playing heroes and a huge reason I discovered the Marshall Silver Jubilee but one of the nicest and most humble people on earth... I hope they do well.. I just had my original one re-fretted by Music Man...  They said I wore the frets down already!!  I must really love that guitar!!

Floyd Rose?!?!  No need to swear! (;

Personally I would have preferred a more classic LP style tailpiece - I'm sure the one fitted is top dollar, especially if Joe selected it - I just don't dig that design...a bit agricultural. lol (;

You stole the words from my mouth Ron - I would like to know that too.  I'm hoping it's not the tail-piece otherwise I've just gone and insulted my guitar hero!  Sorry Joe!  lol

Re: EBMM "Dark Lord" now a production model

Aside from the black finish, the biggest difference is the reverse headstock.  I don't think that would affect the sound much...

I'm a very regular concert goer - usually for "guitar heroes" - and I've seen Steve Morse more than anyone else.  I lived on the East Coast from the mid-80s to the mid-90s and he used to tour up and down the seaboard every few months.  I would catch him three nights in a row most of the time!

Thus, we were something approximating acquaintances then and I remember giving him a hard time about cutting his hair for his short stint as a commercial airline pilot. smile

Hard to find a nicer guy!!!
