Perhaps you didn't understand that it was an all acoustic show, or something lost in translation. Actually you were one of the very few of Joe's fans that got to experience one of these rare shows. He'll plug in next time.

Bibi, you're absolutely right - nothing more to say!!!!
What a great night. Still in heaven . . .

Re: Sound crash in Germany

Agree Bibi and Bonapostle. But PCC Johan has a point regarding the venue. The sound in the back was much worse than in the front. In the front was brilliant but in the back  the sound level was too low because of the distance between stage and backseats. The venue was very long and not wide, more a shoebox.

The band was superb and so nice to see Joe doing something different again.
So glad to have seen this show.

Review in www.bluesmagazine.nl soon.

Re: Sound crash in Germany

Wow!! What a show, so great versions of fantastic songs....and a wonderful crystal clear sound, there where I have been.
Thanks a lot for a great evening!

Re: Sound crash in Germany

It was a great show in Mainz, the sound was crystal clear in row 10. The setlist was very good and Joe is a wonderful singer.

But...

...in this intimate setting Joe should have been more talkative. Why not telling a few stories about some of his songs? Some background information about how and when the songs were written would have been wonderful and would have given the songs even more "body" (if u know what I mean!). Now the audience hardly got some time to breathe between the songs and could not fully appreciate the new arrangements. Some information about the unusual instruments used by the musicians would also have been most welcome.

I don't want a talkshow, but again, in this acoustic setting it would have been wonderful to learn something about Joe and his music.

Now as you´re in the forum you will not need this informations anymore.

Re: Sound crash in Germany

This honestly was one of the best concerts I ever was at. The selection of songs was very entertaining as it was very diversified and spanned quite a lot of styles. I had the feeling, quite a bit of thought went into this to make it as catching as possible! Well done there, there wasn't a single boring minute!

I do feel quite a bit of shame for my fellow countrymen, keeping shouting in between. If you feel this wasn't loud enough, feel free to simply shut up, that usually improves the listening skills. I found that especially annoying when someone shouted in the middle of Sloe Gin, almost destroying an absolute masterpiece.

Was anyone able to collect a the set list? I do remember some, but cannot reconstruct the complete set list...

Gerne gemacht!

Re: Sound crash in Germany

In row seven everything was brilliant. Never had such a good sound. Bad to hear, that the back has not the same quality of sound. For me it was one of my top five concerts ever. I love this variations of very strange instruments. I love the left hand of Joe. And i love this percussionist.

What was the name of the percussionist?

And is it for sure, that there will be a DVD of the accoustic show?
