Topic: Joe's Real Life with Jane Pauley

For those who have never seen it - a great early (1991) snapshot (tv interview/story) of Joe (by none other than Jane Pauley smile .)

I see there was a forum post about it back in 2010, but the youtube link is now a dead end.  Here is one that currently leads to it.  (The youtube poster doesn't have Bonamassa in the tag, which was noted in the one and only youtube comment.)

I know this should probably be in the General Topics - Interviews thread, but thought it may get buried in that one out the gate (and could be moved to later.)

Enjoy.  (and thanks to the Youtube poster).

...When I was 13, I had a paper route.

Re: Joe's Real Life with Jane Pauley

Thanks for digging that up.  It was cool to see young Joe on the road to what he's become today.  And kudos to his parents for encouraging and supporting the talent.

All that at such a young age and yet it's still an incredible mountain to climb.  I love how Joey never took success as a given.  I can only imagine the patience, persistence and self-belief that is the center of Joe Bonamassa.  Keep on climbing!

And the sacrifices his parents made in the early years. It seems to me Joe had a  great family as his foundation. His parents must be so pround of his sucess.

I tried my damndest to get in touch with Bill Schechner, the reporter in this piece to see if he was interested in a follow up to his original piece when Joe was in SF. Unfortunately about the time I tried to contact him he was laid off from KPIX 5 the CBS affiliate here in San Francisco and was filing a discrimination suit against the station around spring of 2008.

Re: Joe's Real Life with Jane Pauley

Great video-easy to see why Joe is so humble. I have to say though showing this vid is like your mother bringing out the baby pics when your trying to impress your girl. Hey Joe did you ever find that homework? The teachers face is priceless.

Dont need a helmet to get me through life-walk across the water blame it on foolish pride.

Re: Joe's Real Life with Jane Pauley

What an awesome video. But, I still can't decide whether videos of Joe's youth inspire me or are just a sign that I should quit smile  I'll have to do a lot more practicing and maybe one day I'll be as good as 13 year old Joe. You have to have goals smile
Just kidding, no matter how much better or worse I get as a player, the discovery of Joe's music has been a good thing in my life.

Re: Joe's Real Life with Jane Pauley

I saw this for the 1st time on Facebook last week. I sent it to my 14 year old nephew to watch.  I think Joe is  a great role model for kids today. The video is a great example of how hard work and dedication can help you reach your goals. Also great story about how supportive his family is to help him reach his goals. And cool they got the dog in the story too!

Re: Joe's Real Life with Jane Pauley

This video is great, found it by accident before. Oh how I as well use to lose my homework!
At that age he played about 4 times better than me now. Which just means one thing..... I need to get to the woodshed!

Re: Joe's Real Life with Jane Pauley

CBS News announces today (9/25/16) that Jane Pauley is named anchor of CBS News' "Sunday Morning”

Jane Pauley will succeed Charles Osgood as anchor. Osgood is retiring from the series on September 25 (today was his last show), after 22 years as anchor of the award-winning broadcast, and after 45 years at CBS News.  (The man has a voice made for Sunday mornings!! smile )

A good time / show for Jane to get caught up with Joe. smile

(Real Life is featured in parts in Live at The Greek dvd ... really wished (once again) that the full segment was a bonus feature.)

Re: Joe's Real Life with Jane Pauley

I think it would be cool to have Jane do a "where is he now" on CBS Sunday Morning (Her new gig). What say you guys? In fact i sent a message to Sunday Morning about this. Never know, could happen...
