Topic: NGD: 57 Historic GoldTop

I've sold my LP Traditional and bought this wonderful 2011 Historic GoldTop. It's a super lightweight at 8.4bs and it plays like a dream and of course it also sounds like a dream :-)

I was on a long search for the right Les Paul and have tried many different ones. It's wonderful what big step forward it is to play this Historic LP. The feel, the tone, everything about this guitar is absolutely wonderful. My Traditional was a great LP, too - but I can truly feel the difference now.

Very nice! Congratulations!!!
The Custom Shop guitars are on another level. I know my R8 is! The best guitar I've ever owned by a long shot.

Re: NGD: 57 Historic GoldTop

Beautiful guitar! I love Gold Tops! (I actually just got a new R7 myself). 8.4 lbs is a great weight! I'm sure she sounds amazing! And, the good news is... After a bit of playing in at stage volume, she'll really open up and sing! Congrats!

Cheers,
-Matt

Re: NGD: 57 Historic GoldTop

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. As soon as I find the time, I'll post a nice video where the 57 gets played at stage volume.

Re: NGD: 57 Historic GoldTop

I didn't used to like goldtops but I have definately come round.

Well done - enjoy!

I know what you mean.  Don't know if it's my eyes getting old or Gibson changed their paint formulation, but it has been awhile since I've seen one that reminds me of the mustard-y greenish ones I used to hate when I was younger...

Re: NGD: 57 Historic GoldTop

As the proud ownder of an '03 R7 I must congratulate you! Enjoy - they are fabulous guitars - and the 'glow' those tops get under stage lights is mesmerising. Have fun!

Re: NGD: 57 Historic GoldTop

love it!

Re: NGD: 57 Historic GoldTop

Congrats and I am very jealous...

...I'm going to have to settle for a Traditional when I get my new Les Paul in a couple of months (silver lining of being laid off, I can buy a new guitar with the redundancy payment!!)...still trying to decide between a Gold Top or Light Burst...

...one thing I know for sure is that the pickups will be changed to either a set of Bareknuckle Mules I have already, or possibly a set of JB Sig pickups if I can get hold of a set for a reasonable price...
