Wooders can vouch for me.  It would be so cool to have something commemorating these guys playing there.  Really bummed they aren't coming anywheres near where I live this year.  A t-shirt would work, too.  PM or email if you think you can do this.  Thanks -

You have my personal guarantee, Kenny. big_smile I'm sure you don't need it, however. You'll be able to make the trade face to face on the 31st August. wink

Re: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

IOW show (DVD) on DIME now to download.

Re: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

the coverage of the Isle of Wight festival from Sky Arts was absolutely awful, - I started to record it all but gave up on day 2 as they was nothing shown live. Tom Petty played 2 or was it 3 songs (?) and that was it, - it was not live, it was pre recorded. Same for Pearl Jam, I did n't bother with Springsteen.

There was a lot of twitter activity over it as a lot of people were disappointed. The presenters kept making excuses saying that it was the artists fault for only allowing them to show a couple of songs, - so how does BBC manage to show entire headline live sets?  They did show more of pop teenager bands, - okay I am musically very open minded, - but a couple of the "bands" were very clearly miming over backing tracks and then breaking in for the rap parts; DJFresh and Example to name 2. NOt what was expected.

Clearly IOW is not what it once was and by the look of it never will be again. sad

Blackstone Cherry we the best of the w/e. I tried with 'The Boss' but it grinds on me when he repeats stuff over and over and over.......... and over.
A lot of acts i was totally bemused at, just awful. I really do not get it.

I blame the parents!! smile - Growing audience of teenagers where Daddy has paid for a weekend ticket, a tent and a pair of Hunters...So the festival's like this are just commercially focussed...

Oh it's being considered believe me but tickets are not guaranteed for fan club members. It's going to be a lottery draw (in the true sense).

Re: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

I saw Petty in a larger venue (Madison Square Garden) last year I think; the Beacon is special. Good luck if you try for tickets.  And if you come and need NY hints feel free to email me. I'm a native New Yorker although I live down the shore now.

Re: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

Thanks Alan, I was at the Beacon Theatre in 1999 for a Foreigner gig so can remember what it's like. Have seen Tom twice at the Hollywood Bowl so this would be something more intimate. It's not going to be a Greatest Hits tour as they take time out from recording a new album.
