Topic: Gretsch Filtertron question

hey guys, as you know I'm buying a Hagstrom Viking, I'm considering installing a Bigsby B7 and removing the current pickup set (SD JB and 59) put a set of Gretsch Filtertrons in there, but I'm not sure whether the Gretsch pickups will be big enough to fill the original humbucker routes. Would the pickup ring cover the route?

Depending on how small they are compared to the hole, you might be able to center them and cover the excess on the sides and top. Kinda like hanging a door and framing around the opening to hide the gap! Maybe even attach something with glue on the inside of the pickup ring to meet up with the pickup if it doesn't quite cover the gap. Might need to use your creativity. -S

If you can't afford the TV Jones which I think is your best option as far as tone is concerned you could go with these www.guitarfetish.com http://www.guitarfetish.com/GFS-Retrotr … _c_99.html  The Retrotrons are a pretty good alternative to the very expensive TV Jones. 

Whats wrong with the Seymour Duncans?  I say give them a try first before you go ahead and toss them out.  Plus now that your a wiring wiz kid now you could save some cash and try a few mods to the guitar before you go all out and get new pickups.
