Topic: How often do you run your delay?

Hey Joe and friends... Was wondering how often you run your delay pedals? Only for leads... Some leads and rhythm... Or all the time?

Cheers Stefan smile

Re: How often do you run your delay?

I tend to run delay and a little reverb practically all the  time.

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

Thanks again, Stefan

Re: How often do you run your delay?

Last in my pedalboard chain, and I usually have it on all the time - at VERY low delay levels so it's only a tiny bit of splashback.

However, when doing AC/DC covers etc. I turn it off altogether.

I always do ACDC and the Angels and kiss etc. completely dry too!!

Re: How often do you run your delay?

I had an old, MiJ, DD-3  and ran it only for solos always in FX loop. Now I've got Aqua puss which I like better in front of the amp and sometimes I use it for rhythm also.

Re: How often do you run your delay?

I tend to run my chorus and delay all the time.  My ac15 doesn't have an effects loop but she takes these pedals very well.

Re: How often do you run your delay?

Just a shred of delay to wet the sound. I don't use reverb.
I might start using my supatrem on full-time too like joe does just to try it.

As does my AC15C1.  Add a little delay (not chorus all that much) to the built-in trem and spring reverb, and you've got a pretty nifty set-up...   wink

Re: How often do you run your delay?

Depends what I'm playing, but I probably have it on 40% of the time.

Re: How often do you run your delay?

I have a couple of "dry" patches without delay and reverb, but the other 6 (I use an Octaswitch MkII) all use delay and reverb.  Delay is a TC Flashback, normally set to the DM3Plus toneprint and quarter-note repeats.  I'll quite often switch to a dotted-eighth for my Gilmour-ish moments :-)

Reverb is the Blackstar HT Club 50's in-built digital; set to "dark" mode.

Re: How often do you run your delay?

I run my delay on all the time through my Ceriatone 2550. I've tried running dry for some rhythm stuff, but it never sounds good.

Then through my Marsh (Dumble clone) I have a RV5 and Super Chorus running through it's FX Loop.

Re: How often do you run your delay?

Live set up, I have reverb always on for one amp and delay only for leads which is on 2nd amp. Delay is not super prominent, but if we're doing a slower song I leave it on for whole song depending on the mood of the tune. We do a slow jazzy/funk version of "Use Me" and for that as an example, I leave it on.

Another "trick" (not really that innovative!): If I just use one amp, I generally use my Line 6 M9 for effects. You have 3 banks with 2 effects each. You can toggle between the 2 so by doing that only one can be on at a time. So I set the top button for REVERB and the lower button for DELAY. Then I leave reverb on all the time and for a lead or whenever I want delay, I just hit the bottom button and the delay comes on and reverb goes off. Then after the solo, I kick the reverb back on and delay goes off. Very easy effective way of keeping a wet or ambient sound at all times without having both delay and reverb on together mucking up your sound through a single amp. -S

Re: How often do you run your delay?

Almost all the time ..around 375ms, 3 repeats, well below unity gain ..in the loop of my 25th anniversary Hughes & Kettner combo ..along with the amps spring reverb

Re: How often do you run your delay?

I use it all the time setting as a soft slap back (now I'm using Alter Ego delay from T.C. Electronics, I'm using its DMM settings).  Everything in front of the amp, no effects loop (my egnater rebel 20 has a effects loop, but my drives and fuzzes comes from my pedals).

Re: How often do you run your delay?

To be honest I had a pretty decent delay pedal a few years back and I never used it.  Sold a few pedals at the first of the year because I wasn't jamming with anybody, now I wish I had a couple of items back.  Lesson learned yet again "Dont SELL AnYTHING!"

Yes, exactly!   wink

Of course, it helps if you're a little picky about what you buy in the first place (and do your homework on it), as I try to be...
