Re: Joe's Interviews

I love the part about the theremin - I never realized it was all in the hands and really has nothing to do with a guitar (although he used to leave one untrimmed string on the baritone in John Henry and do something with that with the theremin - whatever).  Would love to play with one sometime.  Ever since the first time I saw Joe using one of these I have been fascinated by it (love the faces he makes when using it).

Too bad about the slide - he sounds just fine to me playing it.  Thanks for sharing this.

Re: Joe's Interviews

Thanks for the link. I really got an understanding of all the nuances of the amps and pedals that make my ears smile. The Theramin is cool and I thought his slide description of "nails on chalkboard" was hilarious. No wonder he never does that much.

More of a Free direction. Works for me.

Re: Joe's Interviews

I think Joe has the right perspective on the BCC thing.  Though I'll bet the BCC hardcore fans wish he would give BCC a bit more of his time.  Only so much Joe to go around.  Don't want him to stretch until he snaps.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

Just be patient is what I advise everyone.  Don't be gossip crazy either.  The guys all want to make music that is WORTHY, so, worthy is worth the wait!

That statement he made about the tour last year running him into the ground says it all. He's learned that pacing his energy is very important. There are so many irons in the fire it is hard to grab a cool handle. I'm as big a fan of BCC as any but I'll defer pleasure to when he can fit it in. Meanwhile, BCC3 is in the can! big_smile

Re: Joe's Interviews

Look for BCC next summer.  I'd say the window will open then.

I have not read all the posts, I am taking a short break from work - are you saying BCC is touring the U. S.  next summer?

FANTASTIC!  On this site's entry, there is a news update about JB's interview with Billboard Magazine that is a 'grabber.'  The centerpiece is "Driving Towards The Daylight," #1 on BB's Blues Charts, but the article/interview goes further regarding JB's meld with Black Country Communion.  The entire article is WELL WORTH a read, ALL Joe Bonamassa folks !

Rick, have you read the 'news' article on the site's main page, re:  Billboard's interview with JB ?

I just posted that...the post above yours! tongue

Re: Joe's Interviews

100% correct about playing acoustically being a challenge etc.. Strip away the loud amp and easy breezy electric guitars and trying to "shred" on an acoustic was very difficult for me to get used to and I'm just a joe blow with nothing to lose playing in small bars.
